Russell Brand unloads on ex Katy Perry for dating Justin Trudeau: 'She took it too far’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Looks like Russell Brand has a few thoughts, and he is not holding back. The comedian recently reacted to his ex-wife Katy Perry and her reported romance with Justin Trudeau, and he definitely had something to say.

Instead of sharing it on Instagram or any other social media platform, Brand spoke about it during the Wednesday, April 22 episode of 'The Megyn Kelly Show' when he was asked how he feels about Perry dating the former Canadian leader.

“I've put up with a lot with that ex-wife of mine, but you took it too far, KP,” he said about Perry’s latest romance. Brand quickly changed the mood and spoke about Perry’s former partner, Orlando Bloom. “Legolas! I love that guy!” he said while mimicking Bloom's 'Lord of the Rings' Elven character.

During the conversation, he referred to Trudeau as “Fidel Castro's spawn,” and continued to question his actions while in office. Trudeau served as prime minister of Canada from 2015 to 2025 and led the Liberal Party from 2013 until stepping down in 2025.

“I do not like that Trudeau,” Brand said, explaining that he disagreed with Trudeau “having a go at them truckers,” a reference to the use of the Emergencies Act in 2022 to bring an end to the Freedom Convoy protests.

He also criticized Trudeau for trying to appear “ultra woke,” bringing up a moment in Parliament when a war veteran was honored, which Trudeau later called a “terrible mistake.”

Brand continued, “I specifically don't like what is typified by those good-looking politicians - Obama, Macron, Blair - they're sort of good-looking, and they're charming,” he said. “But you think... who do you work for, really? Who's running this? Because it can't be you.”

The conversation circled back to Perry when Brand asked if she and Trudeau were still together. After learning they were, he joked, “Keep checking. She could come to her senses any minute.”
