Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman give rare glimpse into shared birthday month celebration with floral cake

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds recently celebrated their upcoming October birthdays with a heartwarming gathering.

A picture of the celebration was posted by their 'Deadpool & Wolverine' director, Shawn Levy.

Hugh Jackman, who turns 56 on October 12, and Ryan Reynolds, who will be 48 on October 23, posed on either side of a three-tier floral cake.

The duo who made surprised and playful faces for the camera, held the cake while standing in front of a woodsy backdrop.

Levy, who joined the actors for a couple of group photos, shared the celebration in two additional snapshots.

"October is the best month for buddy birthdays  A perfect fall day celebrating early with two of the BEST," the filmmaker captioned the post.

Inside Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynold's friendship

While Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have long been known for their playful and close friendship, Shawn Levy has a deeper connection with both actors.

Levy and Jackman worked together over a decade ago on their 2011 film 'Real Steel' where Jackman made a now-prophetic comment about Reynolds.

Recalling the moment in April, Levy shared, “Hugh said, ‘For what it's worth, if you ever meet and work with Ryan Reynolds, you're never going to stop.’ That was 2010. Hugh Jackman, the prophet — a little-known special talent.”

Levy and Reynolds have since become close friends, working together on hit films like 'Free Guy' (2021) and 'The Adam Project' (2022), before joining forces with Jackman on 'Deadpool & Wolverine'.

The friendship between Levy, Reynolds, and Jackman extends beyond their professional circle.

Levy and Reynolds live just half a block away from each other in New York City, spending plenty of time together outside of their work, as per People.

The filmmaker has described their bond as one of the closest friendships he has had in years.

“I haven’t made a truly close friend since college. Men don’t tend to make a lot of friends," said Levy.

"But Hugh and Ryan happen to be the two guys that I talk about real life s**t with,” he added.

The three have been seen together in various settings, including attending a Jets-Chiefs NFL game in 2023 alongside Taylor Swift.

Fondly recalling their dynamic as one that goes beyond Hollywood, Levy said, "We get together as husbands and guys and dads. And now we get to work together, which has been an absolute blast."

The trio is currently collaborating on the highly anticipated 'Deadpool & Wolverine', marking another exciting chapter in their long-running professional and personal connection.
