LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hugh Jackman is basking in the success of his latest box office hit, and while doing so, the larger-than-life Marvel superhero broke down into tears. 

2024 has been the year of comebacks. After opening in theaters on July 26 with much fanfare, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ starring Jackman and Ryan Reynolds went on to rewrite history.

As one of the movie’s eponymous heroes, the 55-year-old Australian actor was moved to tears by the film’s success.

'Deadpool & Wolverine' success makes Hugh Jackman emotional

Hugh Jackman, who has been essaying the role of clawed superhero Wolverine since the early 2000s, started weeping in his car when he learned that his new film, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ had become the number one movie in the world, per Daily Mail.

The actor posted a video of himself on his social media platforms, including Instagram, where he can be seen reading about the movie's success on his phone. 

The star, who has appeared as Logan, aka Wolverine, in several ‘X-Men’ movies, is first seen chuckling to himself before exclaiming, “Oh my god.”

Tears started rolling down his eyes when the news of the movie's resounding success sank in. He then wiped away the happy tears. 

In another post, he shared the news of the film’s success, writing on Instagram, “Wolverine and Deadpool is the #1 movie in the world. Thank you ALL!”

Along with the caption, he also shared a doctored image from the film where his character Wolverine is seen lying on a couch and looking at a photo frame, reading, “#1 movie in the world.”

The movie opened to a massive opening globally while earning more than $400 million in its first weekend. While Jackman plays the Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds essays the role of the foul-mouthed superhero Deadpool.

Per Deadline, the superhero flick has already clocked in $496.3 million worldwide till Monday, July 29. With positive word of mouth, the film is expected to grow bigger in the upcoming days. 

As the actor has reportedly been sad after his high-profile divorce from his wife of 26 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, the news of the box office achievement gave him a new lease of life.

In May, it was revealed the actor was receiving immense support from his children during the challenging phase of his life. 

An insider revealed, “They know him better than he does and are constantly surprising him,” before adding, “They've become closer than he could have imagined and he can confide in them, whereas before he'd turn to Deb,” per Daily Mail.

Hugh Jackman showing his raw emotion had a moving effect among his fans as they flocked to his social media to share their thoughts on his return as Wolverine.

Youtuber Jaze Phua commented on his Instagram, "When you found out your movie became No. 1 in the World 👏."

Another fan chimed in, "Fox killed you, disney brought you back. And they are gonna make you do it till you’re 90 and we’re all here for it 😅😉."

"Finally! Wolverine's weakness is... laugh!" said someone else. 

Another fan quipped, "He just realised that they are going to make him do this till he is 90 😂✨."

British actor Kim Last noted in a heartfelt confession, "Thank you for coming back as Wolverine 🥲🥲🥲."

Someone else added, "Love that laugh made my day 😆."

Another social media user added notably, "The snorts are EVERYTHING!!! ❤️🤣🤣❤️."

"When Kevin Feige sends you his 35 year plan mapping you out as Wolverine until you’re 90," remarked someone else. 

Another fan added, "Omg, I didn't think you could be any cuter and then you snort laugh."
