LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Australian actress Deborra-lee Furness recently opened up about her life after split from ex-husband Hugh Jackman.

The 68-year-old revealed what she’s learned about herself following recent changes in her life, especially her high-profile split from Hugh Jackman in September 2023 after almost three decades of marriage.

“[I learned] that I'm strong and resilient,” Furness told People at the New York special screening of 'Force of Nature: The Dry 2'. She added, "And that I- we are all a constant evolution.”

What did Deborra-lee Furness say? 

While speaking to People at the screening of the film, Furness shared that she has been "learning a lot about myself and I’m embracing evolution and growth". The Australia native admitted her "year of evolution" has been "scary" and "every other adjective".

Furness revealed that she had found comfort in her friends during her tough times, such as her breakup with Jackman.

"I say this to all women, your girlfriends are a necessity in life," Furness said. She also expressed gratitude for having the support of her two children, son Oscar, 23, and daughter Ava, 18, whom she shares with Jackman.

Furness said Oscar and Ava are "thrilled" about 'Force of Nature: The Dry 2' and have watched the movie "several times already".

"They're very supportive of any pursuits," she added. "We're all supportive of each other in any artistic pursuit that we do."

'Force of Nature: The Dry 2' is a sequel to the 2020 film 'The Dry,' both of which were directed by Robert Connolly and based on books by author Jane Harper.

Eric Bana plays federal police detective Aaron Falk in the movie, reprising his character from the first movie. Four of the five women who set out on a distant hiking retreat return, prompting Falk to launch an inquiry. Sisi Stringer, Lucy Ansell, Jacqueline McKenzie, Anna Torv, and Robin McLeavy will be seen in the film. 

Furness told People she was "drawn" to the project because of its "female-driven ensemble of actors".

She said, "I love playing women that are great role models for younger girls."

"Women are great leaders. So, I like to play women who've got something to say."

Australia-born Furness and Jackman first crossed paths in 1995 while working on the set of the ten-episode Australian television series 'Corelli.'  Furness was a well-known actress in her native country at the time, having acted in a number of TV shows and motion pictures and garnered recognition for her leading role in the 1988 film 'Shame'.
