TRENTON, NEW JERSEY: Sean 'Diddy' Combs has received another update to his projected prison release date while continuing to challenge the conviction that resulted in his 50-month sentence following his federal trial in New York.

Federal Bureau of Prisons records show that Combs’ projected release date has been moved from February 23, 2028, to January 24, 2028.

The change marks the fifth update to his projected release date since his sentencing.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs prison release date changes

Combs was initially scheduled to be released on May 28, 2028, when he was sentenced. The date was later changed to June 4, 2028, before being updated again to April 25, 2028.

It was then moved to April 15, 2028, followed by the February 2028 date and now the January 2028 projection.

The latest update comes shortly after he was moved to solitary confinement at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey following an alleged altercation with another inmate.

Multiple outlets reported that the fight occurred after another inmate allegedly made a remark toward him, according to a source who spoke with ABC News.

A spokesperson for the low-security prison said additional details about the incident could not be provided.

“We are not at liberty to disclose or provide internal information pertaining to any inmate in our custody,” the spokesperson said in a July 24 statement to TMZ, adding, “Such information would not be available for the public domain.”

Combs was transferred to Fort Dix from New York’s Metropolitan Detention Center in late October.

He was sentenced to 50 months in prison after a New York jury found him guilty under the Mann Act. He was acquitted of the more serious trafficking and racketeering charges.

While incarcerated, he sold his Miami Star Island home for $55 million in early July.

The property is located next to another Miami residence that was raided by federal agents in March 2024, during which authorities seized more than 1,000 bottles of oil and lubricant, according to court documents unsealed after his September 2024 arrest.

Diddy continues appeal from Fort Dix

While the Bureau of Prisons has not publicly explained the latest release date adjustment, Combs has been participating in a rehabilitation program at FCI Fort Dix.

His attorneys previously requested that he be placed at the facility because of its treatment programs and proximity to his family.

“In order to address abuse issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts, we request that the court strongly recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that Mr Combs be placed at FCI Fort Dix,” attorney Teny Geragos wrote in an October 2025 court filing.

He continues to appeal his conviction and sentence. His attorneys formally challenged both in December, arguing that the physical encounters involved in the case were consensual and that the punishment was excessive.

In a March appellate filing, his lawyers described his sentence as a “perversion of justice” and requested his “immediate release and a judgment of acquittal or at least vacate and remand for resentencing.”

Combs’ family has continued to support him during his incarceration. His son, Justin Combs, visited him on Christmas Day, with his representative, Juda Engelmayer, revealing that the two spent about 90 minutes together discussing life, difficult moments, past experiences, and moving forward.
