NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sean Hannity followed President Donald Trump's footsteps and bought a Tesla Model S Plaid on Tuesday, March 11, in solidarity with Tesla CEO Elon Musk as he faces possible "cancellation."

The Fox News host's purchase came hours after the POTUS bought a shiny red Tesla sedan to show his support for Musk's car company amid mounting backlash over the tech billionaire's involvement in the administration and his statements backing far-right views, as per CBS News.

Sean Hannity took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a screenshot of his purchase order and captioned the post, "As promised yesterday, I Just ordered my new self-driving Tesla! Over 1000HP, 0-60 in 2.0 seconds!"

Hannity said during a Fox News segment, "You know, my entire life and career, I have never supported a boycott, called for a firing, or wanted a cancellation. Just the opposite."

He continued, "I don’t believe in cancellation. I don’t believe in cancel culture, you know, and I know maybe it’s not going to make up a difference. But you know what? After I drove my friend’s Tesla, I went, and I’ve already picked out the one I want."

"It’s called the — what is it called — the S Plaid. ... And maybe it’s just a gesture on my part. And I like that. I like new technology, but it’s just a way of saying, you know, look what they’re doing to this guy," the 'Hannity' host added.

"Look what they’re doing to these dealers. Look what’s going to happen to the workers at Tesla, the salespeople, the people on the line that are going to lose their job," he further said.

Musk thanked Hannity for his support on X, writing, "Much appreciated @SeanHannity!"

Hours before Hannity's purchase, Trump turned the South Lawn of the White House into a temporary Tesla showroom to show support to his senior advisor, as per NBC News.

The EV giant delivered five vehicles to the White House and parked them on a driveway for the MAGA spearhead to personally inspect, hours after he said in a late-night post on Truth Social that he planned to buy a Tesla to protest those "trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla."

One wrote, "You called electric cars a 'wasteful money pit in 2023'. What changed?" and another quipped, "Lol so the Presidency just offers affiliate marketing gigs now to their supporters?"

"This reminds me of the game show 'Let's Make A Deal'. Pathetic," a person jibed, while one questioned, "It’s definitely a great car. But I thought you hated when liberals did all their virtue signaling. How is this different? Doesn’t appear that it is."

Meanwhile, one wrote, "Lucky! I hope you enjoy your Tesla..I'd love to get my very own!" while another person commented, "Strong choice! The launch of a Plaid will leave you speechless."
