Sean Penn sparks debate as he calls Hunter Biden 'insightful' and displays First Son's art in Malibu home
MALIBU, CALIFORNIA: Sean Penn has a painting by Hunter Biden on prominent display in his Malibu residence, marking a burgeoning friendship between the actor and the president's son.
In an interview with New York Times reporter Maureen Dowd, Penn showcased the artwork titled 'The Map', describing it as featuring "the black outline of a head with colorful, detailed brushstrokes all around it."
Sean Penn and Hunter Biden's surprising connection
The painting, a gift from Biden, reflects a bond that began after Penn screened his documentary 'Superpower' in Washington DC, followed by a dinner with Rep Eric Swalwell. Penn expressed surprise at discovering Biden also resides in Malibu, initially assuming he lived elsewhere.
“I had no idea he lived down here,” Penn said of Hunter. “I thought he was off in some judicial-focused place that we see on TV.” Penn, known for his advocacy work, connected with the painting on a personal level, noting it was created when he was “in pieces” as Biden worked to rebuild his life from past struggles with addiction.
Describing Biden as "very, very insightful," Penn revealed their recent interactions, including a visit by the president's son and his family to Penn’s home the night before. Penn also attended a Hollywood fundraiser with Biden, President Joe Biden, and celebrities like George Clooney and Jimmy Kimmel.
Nevertheless, Penn, a vocal critic of Donald Trump, reaffirmed his stance in the interview, labeling the former president as "shameful."
Netizens react to Hunter Biden's artistic endeavors
A social media user said, "Hunter is a tragic mess, but his paintings are really not that bad. I quite like them."
Another mocked, "This makes MAGA cry."
"If people with too much money want to buy whatever Hunter sells them, who cares? If there's some kind of money laundering, then prove it," read a comment.
"The people with "ethical concerrns" about Hunter's art sales are the same people who have no such "ethical concerns" about Jared's $2 billion dollar "gift", or Ivanka's copyrights from China," penned a user.
"Democrats will do anything to defend their cult," commented an individual.
