BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA: In the wake of a failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a rally on Saturday, July 13, conservative commentator Candace Owens has launched a line of T-shirts featuring an image of Trump with his fist raised and ear bleeding.

Trump, who is the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, was speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when he was shot on stage, with the bullet striking the upper part of his right ear.

The suspected gunman, identified by the FBI as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was swiftly shot and killed by the Secret Service. A spokesperson for Trump’s campaign confirmed that the former president was "fine" and had been checked out at a local medical facility, before being released later that night.

Shortly after the incident, Owens took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to promote her new T-shirt. "Just threw out all my son's Superman and Batman memorabilia. Replacing it with bloodied Trump photos and figurines. Don’t @ me," she tweeted, providing a link to her website where the shirt can be purchased.

According to her website, Club Candace, the shirt features the striking image of Trump with his ear bleeding, accompanied by the words "For God and Country" and Owens' signature against the backdrop of the American flag. The shirt is available for pre-order at $30.

Owens described the image of Trump from the shooting as an "iconic photo." She lamented not being a musical artist to turn it into an album cover but touted its significance in Trump's legacy.

Owens has been outspoken since the shooting, questioning the security measures surrounding Trump. On her podcast, she commented on reports from a witness who claimed to have seen a man with a rifle on a rooftop near the rally venue.

"You have got to be kidding me. Let me say something right now. Take this to the bank. That person was allowed to scale that roof," said Owens.

She emphasized her familiarity with the Secret Service from her time around Trump during his presidency, expressing disbelief that someone could breach their perimeter unnoticed.

This isn't the first instance of Trump-related merchandise appearing online; similar T-shirts have also been made available on major Chinese e-commerce platforms like Taobao and JD.com, often for as little as $4.

However, by Monday, searches for "Trump T-shirt" yielded limited results, suggesting possible censorship or copyright issues.

The FBI continues to lead the investigation into the shooting, alongside the Secret Service and local law enforcement. The rally incident, which resulted in the tragic death of 50-year-old volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore and injuries to two others, adds a dramatic twist to what is expected to be a fiercely contested presidential race between Trump and President Joe Biden heading into the November election.

Netizens erupt over Candace Owens' Trump assassination attempt T-shirts

The internet is ablaze with criticism after Owens began selling T-shirts featuring an image of Trump moments after a failed assassination attempt. The controversial move has sparked outrage among internet users, who accuse Owens of exploiting the tragic event for profit.

A social media user tweeted, "How can you seriously be selling a tshirt right now?"

A second stated, "Is there no bottom to your grifting? Never mind we all know there is not."

A third claimed, "Really you about the $$$ shame on you!!"

"You have to slow down. The assassination attempt against Trump just happened. Let's not lose our morals trying to hustle," read a tweet.

"Wow, Candace. Be better. This is a disgusting money grab. I’m shocked," penned an individual.
