WASHINGTON, DC: Former Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel came under fire from Liz Cheney over defending her involvement in the efforts of former President Donald Trump to overturn the 2020 presidential election results, as per The Hill.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the vice chairwoman of the January 6 committee wrote, "Ronna facilitated Trump’s corrupt fake elector plot & his effort to pressure MI [Michigan] officials not to certify the legitimate election outcome."

She asserted, "She spread his lies & called 1/6 'legitimate political discourse. That’s not 'taking one for the team.' It’s enabling criminality & depravity."

Cheney's scathing criticism was directed at McDaniel's Sunday, March 24 'Meet the Press' interview on NBC News. Notably, the broadcaster hired her as a paid political analyst after she had to resign from her position as the RNC chair under pressure from party leaders.

In response to inquiries about her prior remarks on the Capitol Hill insurrection, McDaniel slightly separated herself from Trump, who has referred to those incarcerated for their involvement in the January 6, 2021 incident as "patriots" and promised to release them if reelected in November.

During the interview, McDaniel remarked, "If you attacked our Capitol … and you’ve been convicted, then that should stay. When you’re the RNC chair, you kind of take one for the whole team. Right now, I get to be a little bit more myself. This is what I believe."

Meanwhile, 'Morning Joe' co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, said on Monday, March 25, that McDaniel will not be invited to guest on their program. They also urged NBC News to rethink the choice of recruiting the Trump loyalist, as per The Hill.

Brzezinski stated, "To be clear, we believe NBC News should seek out conservative Republican voices to provide balance in their election coverage. But it should be conservative Republicans, not a person who used her position of power to be an anti-democracy election denier."

She further added, "And we hope NBC will reconsider its decision. It goes without saying that she will not be a guest on ‘Morning Joe’ in her capacity as a paid contributor."

Internet agrees with Liz Cheney's remarks against Ronna McDaniel

One wrote, "Ronna Romney is a disgrace. I really don't understand why NBC News hired her," while another added, "Rep. @Liz_Cheney, she won't last long on NBC, the people of America are speaking, thanks for calling her out, AGAIN."

"I agree with Liz Cheney," expressed a person and someone else echoed, "Thank you, Liz."

An individual remarked, "Ronna McDaniel is suddenly changing her narrative. Amazing how people will sell their souls for a new job."

"I haven't agreed much with Liz Cheney on policy, but she has emerged as a brave soldier for truth and democracy," said one more, adding, "This post - again - illustrates her willingness to use facts and common sense to expose people like Ronna McDaniel that have shamelessly gaslighted Americans."
