WASHINGTON, DC: The recent announcement of Ronna McDaniel's new role as an on-air contributor with NBC News is being criticized from both sides of the political aisle.

McDaniel, who previously served as the Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman, resigned from her position earlier this month amid mounting pressure from former President Donald Trump, according to Newsweek.

Criticism has emerged from conservative circles who have accused McDaniel of attempting to "help Democrats." Progressives, on the other hand, have criticized NBC News for hiring McDaniel in the first place.

Ronna McDaniel draws flak online from hardliners and liberals alike

"Ronna McDaniel joining MSNBC is just an extension of her years-long work to help Democrats," former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis remarked.

Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter), “Former Chair of the RNC, Ronna McDaniel has joined NBC News as its newest contributor, because of course. Congratulations to Ronna on the dream job she always wanted."

NBC News also faced public criticism for hiring Ronna McDaniel due to her controversial comments regarding voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Critics accused the network of providing McDaniel with a platform to promote inflammatory claims before the November general election.

The addition of Ronna McDaniel to NBC's panel of commentators follows the recruitment of other notable Republicans, such as Marc Short, who previously served as Chief of Staff to former Vice President Mike Pence, and Brendan Buck, a former congressional aide.

"It couldn't be a more important moment to have a voice like Ronna's on the team," NBC News politics and elections reporting chief Carrie Budoff Brown said in a statement announcing McDaniel's new position on Friday.

According to Brown, McDaniel has an "insider's perspective" on national politics.

Ronna McDaniel will make her first public appearance this Sunday on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’.

This marks her first interview since her departure from the Republican National Committee (RNC).

Following her dismissal by presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump, Michael Whatley, an associate of the former president, and Lara Trump, his daughter-in-law, were unanimously elected as RNC chair and co-chair, respectively, with the endorsement of the 77-year-old MAGA strongman.

Internet blasts Ronna McDaniel and NBC News on their collaboration

People on X slammed the former RNC chief for not taking long to decide her prospects, as she joined the media conglomerate as an on-air contributor announced Friday.

One X user remarked, "So a six figure salary to appear as a “consultant” once a week? What a joke."

“Yes, I want to see if they confront her when she lies. I want all points of view aired, but with push back if they lie," another user said.

Another user wrote, "Just made me want to watch them even less then before."

"@NBCNews having this insurrectionist on your network is a total betrayal of journalistic ethics shame she should be fired now. All she will do is continue her assault on. The truth," one user argued.

Another X user asked, "I don’t get it. Why?"

A user tweeted, "Still not watching MTP TOMORROW haven't watched since Mr Todd left."
