WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump recently hinted at major changes at the Republican National Committee (RNC) while subtly criticizing Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, as per CNN.

In an interview with Fox News' Maria Bartiromo on 'Sunday Morning Futures' aired on February 4, the Republican frontrunner said, "I think she did great when she ran Michigan for me. I think she did OK initially in the RNC. I would say right now there'll probably be some changes made."

His remarks came as a response to a question on his thoughts regarding the performance of the RNC Chairwoman.

Calls for McDaniel's resignation were at an all-time high after the GOP lost a string of elections in Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio in 2023. Vivek Ramaswamy was among the top critics who blamed her for the underperformance, calling the GOP "a party of losers."

Conservative lawyer George Conway also called on the RNC to oust the chairwoman after reports surfaced about a phone call by the ex-POTUS and McDaniel to two Michigan canvassers regarding overturning the 2020 election results.

Republican National Committee faces worst cash problem since 2014

Trump's suggestion of possible changes at the RNC apparently stemmed from the GOP's cash crunch ahead of the crucial presidential election.

According to FEC filings, the RNC had only $8 million in the bank by the end of December 2023, marking its lowest figure since 2014's $5 million. On the other hand, its Democratic counterpart, the Democratic National Committee, raised around $40 million in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Additionally, the 2024 RNC winter meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, held on February 3, criticized the chairwoman's management of the committee's budget and finances, as per a CNN report.

It led to a failed resolution to handcuff McDaniel by imposing stipulations on the RNC budget. The chairwoman, who had Trump's support in 2017 when she first ran for the party chair, was elected for a fourth consecutive term in 2023.

Moreover, being a staunch ally of the former president, she also demanded GOP presidential hopeful Nikki Haley drop out of the race after losing New Hampshire and Iowa and hinted the party would nominate Trump as the presidential candidate for the November election.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's indirect remarks about Ronna McDaniel's future at RNC

After Trump's remarks regarding a possible changeup in the RNC came to light, netizens called for the ousting of McDaniel from her position as the committee's chairwoman.

One wrote, "Sooner would be better Dump Ronna!" Another demanded, "Ronna McDaniel needs to resign."

"Get the resume updated Ronna hahaha sounds like you're going to need it again," remarked an individual, while a person added, "Sooner rather than later."

Someone else asserted, "This needs to happen immediately!" "Make it happen. She needs to go," noted one more.

Another person expressed, "Trump needs to SAY IT OUT LOUD: 'RONNA RESIGN!!!'"
