CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE: Former President Donald Trump unleashed a series of online attacks on Nikki Haley on Tuesday, January 23, urging his rival to withdraw from the Republican presidential primary after his triumph in the New Hampshire primary.

Trump's attacks on Haley

On Trump's Truth Social platform, he unleashed a series of posts, each more biting than the last. "Haley said she had to WIN in New Hampshire. SHE DIDN’T!!!" Trump declared. He followed up with another post in all caps, exclaiming, "DELUSIONAL!!!" as Haley reaffirmed her commitment to remaining in the race.

A third post added fuel to the fire: "SHE CAME IN THIRD LAST WEEK!"

The former president continued to dissect Haley's strategy, pointing out her loss in Nevada, a state she did not file for in the party-run caucuses on February 8, opting instead for the state-run February 6 primary.

"SHE JUST LOST NEVADA, WHICH IS UP NEXT," Trump wrote in another post.

According to CNN, while Haley had not explicitly stated a prerequisite to win in New Hampshire, she argued that she needed a more substantial performance than her distant third-place finish in the Iowa caucuses. Trump seized on this narrative, highlighting her failure to outshine him in previous contests.

The Trump campaign swiftly capitalized on his New Hampshire victory by sending a fundraising text to supporters, declaring, "THIS RACE IS OVER!"

Trump painted a dismal picture of Haley in his speech to supporters in the Granite State. "She did very poorly actually," he said. "The governor said she's going to win, she's going to win, she's going to win. Then she failed badly."

Flanked by South Carolina Sen Tim Scott, a recent endorser, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, Trump took the opportunity to boast about his consistency, declaring, "We win the primary. We win the generals."

The former President also took aim at New Hampshire Gov Chris Sununu, an endorser of Haley, dismissing him as a "very unpopular governor." But despite the barrage of attacks, Trump expressed gratitude to New Hampshire voters. "This is a great, great state," he said. "It is a very special place to me."

Haley's defiant response

Haley, in response, congratulated Trump on his victory but firmly stated her intention to stay in the race.

"New Hampshire is first in the nation. It is not the last in the nation. This race is far from over. There are dozens of states left to go. And the next one is my sweet state of South Carolina," she insisted during her election night speech in Concord.

She continued, "At one point in this campaign, there were 14 of us running, and we were at 2% in the polls. Well, I'm a fighter. And I'm scrappy. And now we're the last ones standing next to Donald Trump."

Haley also touched on her past alignment with Trump, noting, "I voted for Trump twice. I was proud to serve America in his Cabinet. I agree with many of his policies. I decided to run because I'm worried about the future of our country and because it's time to put the negativity and chaos behind us."

However, she raised concerns about the Republican track record with Trump at the helm, saying, "With Donald Trump, Republicans have lost almost every competitive election. We lost the Senate. We lost the House. We lost the White House. We lost in 2018. We lost in 2020, and we lost in 2022."

Haley also alluded to the Democrats' strategy, claiming, "The worst-kept secret in politics is how badly the Democrats want to run against Donald Trump. They know Trump is the only Republican in the country who Joe Biden can defeat."

She concluded with a dire prediction, stating, "A Trump nomination is a Biden win and a Kamala Harris presidency," asserting her belief in her ability to defeat Biden where Trump could not.

Internet reacts to Trump's online rant against Haley

Trump's online onslaught faced backlash from critics on social media.

"He better pace himself. He's going to lose the general election," one posted on X.

"4 posts, all caps…gonna be a long night of tantrums filled with name calling, lying and claims of election fraud," another wrote.

"So he won but he's still complaining. We cannot do this for another 4 years! It's only the third week of January and we got to go all the way to November! I'mma need some drugs lol," someone else quipped.

"The longer Haley stays in, the more she can do Biden’s work and hammer away at Trump’s weaknesses. Trump is wounded and Haley may help pop his gasket," another offered.
