According to officials, the car struck a security fence encircling the White House complex. On the spot, one adult male was declared deceased. The car struck the outer perimeter fence while it was moving quickly, according to the Secret Service.

The Secret Service claims there was no threat to the White House, and MPD is looking into the event as a traffic crash.

At that time, President Joe Biden was spending the weekend in Delaware.  Limited traffic closures in the area of the crash were in effect overnight.

A tweet by Anthony Guglielmi said, "Limited traffic closures remain in effect as Secret Service teams, @dcfireems & @DCPoliceDept investigate a fatal vehicle crash that occurred at an exterior perimeter gate by the White House. There is no threat or public safety implications and our preliminary statement is below."
