WASHINGTON, DC: Comedy Central's 'South Park' Halloween episode took a jab at President Donald Trump’s demolition of the White House’s East Wing.
The episode, titled "The Woman in the Hat," aired on Friday, October 31, and followed Trump’s character as he’s haunted by an "entity" after tearing down the East Wing.
'South Park' Halloween special features Pam Bondi going after a spirit and Trump's critics
In the episode, the "entity" was revealed to be first lady Melania Trump, who was wearing a giant purple hat that covered her face, which was an apparent parody of the outfit she wore on a state visit to the UK last month.
Moreover, Attorney General Pam Bondi, whose character was haunted by a "rectoplasm" throughout the episode, led a ritual in an attempt to rid the White House of the "entity."
Interestingly, Stan, one of the show’s main characters, was concerned that 'South Park' had become too political.
However, it was revealed that Stan’s father lost his job at the United States Geological Service due to the ongoing government shutdown, and his family had to move into his grandfather’s retirement home.
In the episode, Stan and his friends launch a "South Park Sucks" cryptocurrency scheme, and one of the children travels to Washington, DC.
During Bondi’s ritual, Stan admitted the scheme was a fraud and ended up behind bars after he was indicted by the attorney general herself.
A Fox News presenter in the episode said, "Charges, of course, were once again filed by Pam Bondi, who said, ‘We will continue to indict anyone who says bad stuff about our amazing president.'"
Meanwhile, the log line for the episode teased a "disruptive spirit from the East Wing."
The episode also marked a break from the show’s typical biweekly release on Wednesday evenings. The schedule change comes after Season 27 abruptly ended following just five episodes and a weeklong delay for the sixth.
Melania Trump reportedly raised concerns over East Wing demolition
Melania Trump reportedly raised concerns about President Donald Trump’s plan to demolish the East Wing of the White House and build a massive ballroom, a Wall Street Journal deep dive by Annie Linskey, Josh Dawsey, and Will Parker reveals.
The report mentioned that the first lady "privately raised concerns about tearing down the East Wing and told associates it wasn’t her project," according to administration officials.
Interestingly, this indicates that she has been quietly distancing herself from one of her husband’s most high-profile White House projects.
Earlier in the year, social sources told People that Melania had been supportive of the renovation, reportedly liking that parts of the White House were beginning to resemble Mar-a-Lago.
A Florida source told the magazine that the first couple "would prefer to be in Palm Beach," so they were "bringing Mar-a-Lago to Washington."
Another Mar-a-Lago club member said the couple "take pride" in their Florida estate’s decor and "enjoy showing it off," which explains their desire to mirror that style at the White House.
However, the WSJ report indicates that Melania may have found watching the Roosevelt-era East Wing being torn down difficult to accept.
