Weiss said Hunter should face no more or less accountability than any other citizen convicted of similar offenses.

"No one in this country is above the law. Everyone must be accountable for their actions, even this defendant," Weiss told reporters on Tuesday according to CNN.

"However, Hunter Biden should be no more accountable than any other citizen convicted of this same conduct. The prosecution has been and will continue to be committed to this principle," He added.

Weiss expressed gratitude to the jury for their service after they convicted Hunter on the charges.

"There are few civic responsibilities more important than jury service. Fifteen Delawareans came to court each day and performed their responsibilities in a professional and conscientious manner. We thank them," he said.

David Weiss reveals why Hunter Biden's 'case was not just about addiction'

Weiss clarified that the case was not solely about addiction but also about the illegal decisions Hunter made while using drugs.

"Ultimately this case was not just about addiction, a disease that haunts families across the United States, including Hunter Biden's family. This case was about the illegal choices the defendant made while in the throes of addiction," Weiss stated.

Weiss detailed the specific choices that led to Hunter's conviction.

"His choice to lie on a government form when he bought a gun. And the choice to then possess that gun. It was these choices and the combination of guns and drugs, that made his conduct dangerous," he explained.

Internet reacts to Hunter Biden's conviction and David Weiss's statement

Hunter's conviction on three federal gun charges highlights the judicial system's commitment to holding individuals accountable for their actions, regardless of their personal struggles or family connections.

One X (formerly Twitter) user said "Hunter Biden has handled this trial quietly without attacking anyone. Wait who else was convicted recently & yelled from beginning to end ‘the sky is falling … the sky is falling’ like a crybaby"

"Do you think this case will have any impact on Hunter Biden's public image or his father's political career?" wrote one more.

"After some quick research the fact is, if his last name wasn't Biden he wouldn't have been charged as the Justice department charges a tiny fraction of people that violate this law I'm filling out that form," wrote one more.

One more wrote the verdicts were a "Well that’s a blow for MAGA’s incessant propaganda about a corrupt and democrat favoring judicial system, ain’t it?"
