WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump's former attorney, Michael Cohen, warned against sending the former President back to the White House, stating "he is for sale" after mounting more than $500 million in legal fees and penalties as reported by OK! Magazine.

"We need to be very careful about him as a potential president because he is for sale," Cohen said in an interview with MSNBC's 'The Weekend' on Sunday, February 19. "He needs to figure out where he is going to raise $500-plus million over a short period of time," he added.

Judge Arthur Engoron, on February 17, hit the GOP frontrunner with a $355 million penalty in the civil fraud trial for fraudulently inflating the price of his properties in New York state for insurance and tax benefits.

Furthermore, in early January, a Manhattan court ordered Trump to pay $83.3 million in defamation charges to longtime advice columnist E Jean Carroll.

Michael Cohen says Donald Trump is 'thoroughly compromised'

Cohen agreed with MSNBC host Symone Sanders-Townsend's suggestion that the former President could be "open to the highest bidder at this point because the tab keeps being run up," listing off "the Saudis, the Russians," as options.

"Thoroughly compromised, yes," the former Trump attorney said.

In another interview with MSNBC on February 17, Cohen predicted his former client should "start liquidating assets" to pay the massive legal penalties.

"He has a very interesting way of looking at money, and the way he looks at is if his name is somehow attached to that, it's available. It's available to him. It is not right and he doesn't have it. They're going to have to start liquidating assets," the attorney claimed as per a report by Mediaite.

Despite the back-to-back legal setbacks, the White House hopeful frequently claims the cases against him are an attempt to interfere with his dominant lead in the 2024 presidential election.

For instance, responding to the NY civil fraud verdict, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to label Judge Engoron "crooked" and AG Letitia James, who filed the lawsuit "corrupt," adding the verdict was "ELECTION INTERFERENCE. WITCH HUNT."
