NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The May 23 episode of 'Late Show with Stephen Colbert' started with coverage from NBC News about Nikki Haley announcing her support for Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

The show then aired a satirical advertisement, jokingly stating, "The following ad has been paid for by whoever owns Nikki Haley"- an ad that juxtaposed Haley's recent declaration of support for Trump with past clips where she appeared less enthusiastic about him as a candidate.

Footage contrasts Nikki Haley's remarks with critical statements on Donald Trump

The video starts with Haley speaking at the Hudson Institute, expressing her backing for former President Trump in the upcoming 2024 election.

She starts, “As a voter, I put my priorities on a president who’s –” then transitions to another clip of Haley criticizing Trump, concluding her sentence with, “– not qualified to be the president of the United States.”

The footage from the Hudson Institute event is then juxtaposed with clips from Haley's campaign, resulting in the following statements:

Firstly, “A president who was trying to buddy up with Putin. Every time he was in the same room with him, he got weak in the knees.”

Secondly, “A president who was confused when he said that Biden was going to run us into World War II.”

Lastly, “Trump has gotten more unstable and unhinged. Thin-skinned and easily distracted. Chaos follows him. He’s never known how to sacrifice, and the most harm he’s ever possibly had is getting hit by a golf ball when he’s sitting in a golf court. That’s the truth.”

The advertisement ends with a modified version of the typical "I'm so-and-so, and I endorse this message" phrase.

Instead, we witness the Republican figure state in a sequence of combined clips, "I'm Nikki Haley, and I will be voting for a convicted criminal."
