WASHINGTON, DC: Stephen King has launched a scathing attack on President Donald Trump over the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, saying, "If the Epstein files don't implicate Trump, then why won't he release them?"

The author's remarks came amid the recent release of Epstein's emails and documents, which have renewed scrutiny of the president's prior relationship with the disgraced financier.



Stephen King's viral criticism targets Trump's silence

Stephen King has become one of Donald Trump's most strong critics as he constantly speaks out against the president on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

His post attacking Trump's connection to the Epstein files went viral this week, gaining massive traction. King wrote, "Look, it's pretty simple: If the Epstein files don't incriminate Trump, why won't he release them?"

The query received over 861k views and over 5,600 comments from other users on X, indicating the public fascination and outrage continue regarding the matter.

Newly released Epstein emails mention Trump

Stephen King's aggressive posts come against the backdrop of the revelations coming out from the newly disclosed documents, including records from the House Oversight Committee.

These documents indicate that Trump and Epstein may have remained in contact even after Trump entered the White House.



Specifically, one email came out from November 23, 2017, where Epstein is discussing plans with a contact named "Faith Kates." In answer to a question of who would be coming to the gathering, Epstein simply responded, naming off people, including "Trump."

Details of where and with whom remain unclear, but the exchange certainly raises questions about the timeline of the relationship, which Trump has long maintained he ended in the early 2000s. The complete set of emails that have been released to date shows mentions of Trump going back over 15 years.

Stephen King reflects on a shift in societal standards

On X, Stephen King posted another message where he reflected on the state of public reaction to such allegations, indicating an alarming shift in societal standards.

He then wrote the following in a message: "The American public has grown numb to sexual crimes. If the Epstein business had come out against Trump in 1985, even 2005, Donny J would be gone like Enron."



This post also garnered a large number of views, around 99k and 428 comments by users on X.

Meanwhile, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized that the president had done nothing wrong and noted that Trump had banned Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago resort years earlier due to unacceptable behavior, brushing off the emails as "meaningless."

Trump has insisted that he terminated all relationships with Epstein following a brief friendship and has denied knowing about any of the financier's criminal activities.
