Tammy Bruce says strong leadership is needed as 'Fox & Friends' discusses Trump's potential running mates
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce joined co-hosts Will Cain, Rachel Campos, and Pete Hegseth to share her take on the vice president contenders for presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump on Sunday, May 5, 2024, episode of 'Fox & Friends'.
While acknowledging that there were multiple worthy candidates for the role, Bruce stressed that it was far more important for everyone to band together instead of focusing on the individual, as it was time "to think of the country first."
Tammy Bruce's take on Donald Trump's potential VP contenders
"The talent bench is deep," Bruce told Cain when he asked her about Trump's possible running mates. "And everyone in the GOP says this is an all-hands-on-deck effort. So whether you are going to be the vice president, or in the cabinet, or heading up a special committee, we've got cleaning to do and fixing to do," she added.
She warned that supporters may see "their favorites" not making the cut. Still, she reminded them that the upcoming election was about "saving the country", and that those running for office should "have a commitment of putting this country first."
Bruce said that Republicans, who have been in the White House, are aware of what's going on, and have strong contacts, should also be considered.
"This is now about bringing the nation together, the Republicans understand it. Now it is about the independents, it's about the Democrats, it's about Republicans who are still shivering a little bit - get your act together. You see what's going on out there, we've got a job to do," the host added.
The need for strong leadership
Bruce claimed that under President Joe Biden, people have seen how the world reacts to weakness and cowardice, which brings out "the worst in people."
Strong leadership, she claimed would help change the mindset of people and help get back to peaceful times. "We saw it a bit with Reagan, peace through strength. We can get there again," Bruce said.
"Normal has changed," she continued, before adding, "I want to make sure that young people ... have a world to look at. I don't want to be on my deathbed thinking, 'Oh my god. There's more riot.'"
"(War) is never going to end unless America has a president, whoever that might be, that says enough is enough. We can't keep going back and forth, that's what is exhausting," Bruce further added.
