LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actor Taylor Lautner and his wife, Tay Lautner on Sunday, June 7, revealed that they are expecting a baby girl. The couple shared the news in an emotional gender reveal video posted to Instagram, showing the moment they learned the gender of their first child together.

The announcement comes months after the pair confirmed they were expecting their first baby. Lautner later said becoming a father to a daughter had long been a personal dream.

The video, posted jointly on the couple’s Instagram accounts, captured them sitting together on a couch as they logged into an online portal to learn the baby's gender. “Our little secret is now yours,” they captioned the post.

As the final prompt appeared on the screen, the couple held hands and prepared to see the result. When the word “girl” appeared in pink lettering, Lautner threw his arms into the air while Tay covered her mouth and became emotional. Taylor immediately embraced his wife as the pair celebrated the moment together.

Following the announcement, Lautner reflected on the news in a message shared on Instagram Stories. “My dream has always been to become a girl dad,” he wrote.

The actor explained that many of the most important people in his life are women, including his mother, sister, wife and several close friends.

“All I wanted was a healthy baby but deep down this moment is what I was dreaming of. The weight that was lifted off my shoulders in this moment knowing that dream came true was unlike anything I’ve felt,” he wrote.

He added, “Tay is the strongest person I know and my hero. I can’t wait to welcome this baby girl into our world. Team girl!”

First child expected after pregnancy announcement earlier this year

The couple first announced they were expecting their first child on March 26, sharing photos from a maternity shoot and a sonogram image. Taylor and Tay, whose maiden name is Taylor Dome, have been together since 2018 and married in November 2022 after becoming engaged in 2021.

Throughout the pregnancy, the couple has frequently shared updates with followers. In May, Tay discussed some of the challenges she has experienced during pregnancy while speaking on her podcast, The Squeeze.

She said she had struggled with comparisons to other expectant mothers during her second trimester. "I've never really struggled with comparison, but I've definitely found myself comparing my pregnant body to other pregnant women, especially the women that are weeks away from giving birth and are still all skinny and fit," Tay said.

She also recently praised her husband’s support throughout the pregnancy, describing him as a constant source of help and encouragement. "He's been my saving grace," she said. "He has been so helpful, running around, doing all of the things, picking up random food, filling up my water with ice 27 times a day."

The couple has not publicly disclosed a due date, but they are preparing to welcome their daughter later this year.
