Taylor Swift blocks multiple songs from Trump team’s TikTok after muting ‘August’ in fireworks clip

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift appears to be distancing her music from President Donald Trump after fans noticed that several video from Trump team's TikTok account featuring her songs have lost their audio.

As per reports, Swift's latest removals reportedly include songs like ‘Red,’ ‘Love Story,’ and ‘The Fate of Ophelia,’ after previously muting ‘august’ from a fireworks clip featuring President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania. The videos were posted by the account launched by Trump’s campaign during his 2024 presidential bid.

Swift's move comes amid multiple artists raising objections to the unauthorized use of their music in posts shared by the White House.

According to @/SwiftiesHQs, Swift has removed a total of 10 audios from video on Trump team's TikTok so far, including ‘Red (Taylor’s Version), ‘Love Story,’ ‘The Fate of Ophelia,’ ‘Opalite,’ ‘Daylight,’ ‘Cruel Summer,’ ‘august,’ ‘Father Figure,’ ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ and the Eras Tour audio.

The latest removals came after a video posted earlier this week, showing Trump and first lady Melania Trump watching a massive fireworks display with their backs turned to the camera, featured the ‘august’ audio. The video included the text, “Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president.”

Its caption appeared to intentionally antagonize Swift, reading, “I’m sure Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song!” While the video originally featured ‘August’ from Swift’s 2020 album ‘Folklore,’ the current version has no sound.

Attempting to access the song in the United States brings up a message that reads, “The copyright owner hasn’t made this sound available in your country.”

Another video from Trump’s team also lost access to Swift’s music. A November 2025 video used ‘Father Figure’ from ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ and featured Trump alongside his youngest son, Barron. The video displayed the lyric “I was your father figure,” followed by footage from his alleged assassination attempt in July 2024 alongside the lyric “You pulled the wrong trigger.”

It ended with Trump waving to a crowd outside the White House from a helicopter as “This empire belongs to me” appeared on screen. Another post from August 6 also became soundless.

The video joked that Swift wrote her fourth studio album, ‘Red,’ about Republicans and displayed artwork imitating the album cover with Trump wearing a red hat. The text read, “Red (Donald Trump’s version),” alongside the question, “Did you know Taylor Swift wrote a whole album about the color of the Republican Party?”

Trump previously shared an AI-generated image falsely showing Swift endorsing him during his 2024 campaign. He later denied knowing where the image came from, saying that somebody else had generated the images.

She subsequently endorsed his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, for president. Swift explained that seeing the image falsely depicting her supporting Trump heightened her concerns about AI and misinformation and led her to be transparent about her actual plans as a voter.

Trump responded by describing her as “a very liberal person” who seemed to always endorse a Democrat and added that she would “probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Last month, the White House also attempted to troll Swift during the week of her wedding to Travis Kelce by sharing AI posts echoing imagery from her Madison Square Garden ceremony and various album eras.

However, after Swift’s engagement to Kelce in August 2025, Trump offered a different tone during a Cabinet meeting, saying, “Well, I wish them a lot of luck. I think he’s a great player, a great guy. I think she’s a terrific person.”

The White House has seemingly leaned into rage-baiting musicians who have not endorsed the Trump administration. Katy Perry recently criticized the use of ‘Firework’ in a White House video showing US military strikes in Iran, saying the song was meant as an anthem of hope and should not be used to soundtrack destruction and violence.

Ariana Grande also objected after the White House used her song ‘Bye’ in a video depicting federal agents arresting and handcuffing people.
