WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Ted Cruz accused President Joe Biden of mingling public funds with his political contributions, according to Raw Story.

According to Politico, a letter submitted by Senator Ted Cruz on Thursday to Hampton Dellinger, head of the Office of Special Counsel, stated, "I write to refer this to you for investigation as a possible violation of the Hatch Act, a federal law that broadly prohibits using taxpayer dollars for campaign activity."

It added, "Congress, not President Biden, wrote [the infrastructure law], and it did not do so to aid the President’s reelection campaign."

Cruz added, "These displays are nothing more than campaign yard signs courtesy of the American taxpayer."

Notably, Senator Ted Cruz requested an investigation to determine if the Democratic incumbent, who is seeking reelection, violated the Hatch Act to garner support for an infrastructure bill set for passage in 2021.

The Hatch Act, by definition, prohibits the "political activity of individuals principally employed by state, District of Columbia, or local executive agencies, who work in connection with programs financed in whole or in part by federal loans or grants."

Notably, in 2021, during his first year in office, President Biden signed a $1 trillion infrastructure plan into law, allocating billions of dollars to state and local governments to modernize aging transportation systems, roads, and bridges.

Moreover, Cruz claimed that the 2021 law was "unilaterally rebranded" as "President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law" by Biden's White House.

According to the outlet, the Texas politician contends that Biden's wording of the bill gives it a "highly politicized" tone and unduly credits the president.

Moreover, Cruz referenced the White House's standards regarding the presentation of legislation, particularly the introduction of the infrastructure plan which Biden is credited, to support his claims that Biden is crossing political boundaries.

The law is mentioned on a page with various red, gray, and blue fonts stating, "Project Funded By President Joe Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law." Cruz criticized these signs, stating, "These displays are nothing more than campaign yard signs courtesy of the American taxpayer."

In a response to Politico, White House spokesperson Robyn Patterson defended the signs, saying they "promote transparency and inform taxpayers how federal dollars are being spent."

Moreover, Cruz's decision to vote against the historic legislation aimed at modernizing the country's infrastructure also irked her.

She said, "If Senator Cruz were half as concerned about Texas kids getting safe drinking water as he is about signs, he might have voted for the Infrastructure Law and to send $31 billion to tackle essential infrastructure needs across Texas."

She added, "President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is building roads, expanding high-speed internet access, and replacing lead pipes across Texas."

Several internet users slammed Ted Cruz as he charged that President Joe Biden had mixed public funds with his own political contributions.

Some online comments read, "Ted Cruz is a hypocrite. He's been taking credit for funds Texas has received from day one," and "Next he's gonna do trump signing coronavirus relief cheques." [sic]

A user wrote, "That's the law Cruz voted against? Sit down Ted. Shut up," while one added, "Uh, since when is touting accomplishments against the law?"

A person also stated, "I'll bet he was livid over Donald Trump's signature on those COVID relief checks," whereas one mentioned, "Cruz has a face you can tirelessly beat in."
