WASHINGTON, DC: Texas Senator Ted Cruz recently sparked a wave of criticism across social media by accusing Democrats of backing pro-Palestinian protestors to garner political favor, The Hill reported.

As Cruz gears up for re-election against Representative Collin Allred, he voiced his disapproval during a recent interview on 'The Cats Roundtable' with radio host John Catsimatidis on WABC 770 AM.

During the interview, Cruz claimed that the Democratic Party is paralyzed by the pro-Palestine movement due to their desire for votes. "They’re having pro-Hamas rallies, and the Democrat Party is paralyzed because they want the votes," Cruz stated.

He went on to criticize the Biden administration and Democrats' stance on immigration and foreign policy, suggesting that their leniency toward pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses is part of a broader strategy to secure electoral support.

Cruz attacked the criminal justice system and educational institutions for not taking a tougher stance on student protesters.

He called for strict measures against those threatening Jewish students, saying, "If anyone threatens another student — and we’re seeing Jewish students threatened at universities across the country — here’s what should happen: You threaten another student, you should be arrested. You should be prosecuted. You should be expelled."

His comments came in the wake of a controversial decision by the Manhattan district attorney's office to drop charges against 31 out of 46 students arrested for allegedly occupying Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall during pro-Palestine demonstrations.

The charges were dismissed due to insufficient evidence and the students' lack of criminal history.

Cruz further alleged that student protestors are receiving financial support from individuals linked to Hamas and criticized the Justice Department for not investigating these claims.

He accused the Biden administration and Democrats of being influenced by these donors, saying, "They’re not willing to investigate that, because many of those donors are funding Joe Biden, and are funding my Democratic opponent."

In May, Cruz joined other GOP Senators in urging the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to investigate nonprofit organizations that financially support National Students for Justice in Palestine, which has been coordinating pro-Palestine movements on college campuses nationwide. The IRS has yet to respond publicly to this request.
