HOUSTON, TEXAS: Caroline Cruz has become an internet sensation due to her surprising response to her father, Ted Cruz's, commendation of President-elect Donald Trump.

The 16-year-old, who has openly disagreed with her father's political views, struggled to maintain a straight face when her father declared victory in the Texas senatorial race.

On November 5, the seasoned legislator secured a third consecutive term following a rigorous contest with Democratic Representative Colin Allred, Daily Mail reported.

After securing a victory over Allred with 54 percent to 43 percent, Cruz approached the podium in Houston to give a speech where he stated that he "hopes and prays Donald Trump will be re-elected."

As his family encircled him on stage, Cruz stated, "I hope and pray that Donald Trump will be re-elected as President of the United States."

His message to Trump, who won Texas decisively and reclaimed the presidency, elicited a look of disgust from Caroline.

Caroline, clad in a red dress, scrunched up her face and then turned to the audience, seemingly mouthing, "Don't clap for that."

A video clip capturing the 16-year-old's emotional response to her father's remarks has been circulating online, garnering significant attention from social media users.

Following its share on TikTok, the comments section has been inundated with voters commending Caroline for her comical reaction.

A user said, "Caroline Cruz. Legend."

Another added, "She didn't even try to hide it."

One commentator remarked, "Caroline Cruz is that girl."

“The ‘don’t clap for that’ is so valid,” said one.

A person on platform X wrote, "It also looked like she told her mother not to clap at that? Mom looked a little ashamed for clapping. Am I wrong?"

Another user stated, "A spoiled young lady."

Caroline Cruz 'disagrees' with most of dad Ted Cruz's views

Caroline Cruz, who was admitted to the hospital in 2022 after injuring herself with a knife, has previously spoken out against her father. The teen disclosed on TikTok two years ago that she frequently didn't agree with her father's viewpoints.

"A lot of people judge me based upon him at first glance, but I really disagree with most of his views," she said.

Despite her personal opinions of her father, the residents of the Lone Star State re-elected him. Nevertheless, the Senate race was narrowly contested, presenting a challenge for Republicans who have dominated the state for decades.

Texas, a state traditionally held by Republicans and known for its stringent abortion laws, has faced increased scrutiny following the overturning of Roe v Wade in the summer of 2022.

Nevertheless, Senator Cruz's claim that Democrats are to blame for immigration and economic issues, the two main concerns in Texas, appeared to cement his reelection.
