GLASGOW, SCOTLAND: A packed EasyJet flight from London to Glasgow was forced to make an emergency landing Sunday, July 27, morning after a passenger began shouting threats, claiming he had a bomb and vowing to target President Donald Trump.

The dramatic in-flight incident occurred just as Trump was making a high-profile visit to his Turnberry golf resort, located just an hour from Glasgow Airport.

The suspect, a 41-year-old man, erupted into a violent outburst mid-flight, yelling “Allahu Akbar,” “Death to America,” and “Death to Trump,” before being subdued by fellow passengers in a harrowing moment captured on viral video.

The plane landed safely in Glasgow, where police took the man into custody. Authorities later confirmed there were no explosives on board and that the individual acted alone.

Mid-flight scare during Trump’s Scotland visit

The timing of the onboard scare aligned almost exactly withTrump's stay at his Turnberry resort, where he was golfing just an hour away from Glasgow Airport. Passengers and flight crew were shaken after the man began issuing political threats against the president while screaming that he had a bomb.

“I’m going to bomb the plane! Death to America! Death to Trump!” the man yelled, according to video footage shared by IntelTower on X (formerly Twitter). His outburst followed a visit to the airplane bathroom, after which he stood in the aisle and launched into a rant in both English and Arabic.

The man’s mention of Trump and his violent rhetoric raised immediate concern among passengers, many of whom later said they feared for their lives.

Chaos erupted inside the cabin as passengers leapt to action. “At that point, one guy managed to grab him from behind and pull him down, then everyone jumped on top of him,” a witness told The Sun.

“He was fighting a bit on the floor, but at this point, he knew he’d f**ked up,” the passenger added.

Trump had arrived in Scotland as part of a personal visit and was reportedly within a short helicopter ride from the airport where the plane landed.

'I thought he was joking,' witness says

The passenger on board, who wished to remain anonymous, recalled the harrowing moment, saying he had just woken up around 8 am, less than an hour after takeoff from Luton, when the chaos erupted.

“He literally came out of the toilet shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ with his hands above his head,” the witness said.

“Then he said ‘I’ve got a bomb, I’ve got a bomb’ – at this point people were confused. “I thought he was joking, I mean it’s a weird joke.”

The 39-year-old, en route to Glasgow for his father’s birthday, added that the man turned aggressive, pushing flight attendants.

“He pushed the airline staff and was being aggressive towards them. He was a big guy, about six foot and they were these petite women. When he pushed them, that’s when things changed.”

According to the witness, one passenger managed to grab the man from behind and bring him to the ground, after which several others helped restrain him.

With the situation escalating, the witness began recording. “I was right there, there wasn’t much for me to do, so I thought I’ll film it. They realised there wasn’t a bomb,” he said.

The pilot then announced an emergency landing and descended rapidly. “Everyone who wasn’t restraining him was told to sit down. The three guys pinning him down, they landed whilst pinning him down. It was incredible. I’ve never seen that before. The airline staff, they were all girls, they were really shaken up by it, but they were super professional,” he added.

He also described the emotional passengers, “Some of the passengers were crying because they were shaken up. It was just a bit surreal.”

'I wanted to send a message to Trump'

The man was found to be carrying a refugee status card, and his wallet indicated he might be an Indian national. As the aircraft approached Glasgow, its original destination, the witness said he helped steady one of the men restraining the suspect: “I held up one of the passengers sat on the ‘bomber’ to prevent him toppling over.”

The man was heard saying, “I wanted to send a message to Trump… he’s in Scotland.”

Once on the ground, emergency vehicles, including fire trucks, surrounded the plane. Police boarded from the back, with one officer reportedly issuing a stern warning.

“The main copper didn’t f*** around, he said ‘look, don’t mess about or you’ll go straight down’. By this point the guy had calmed down. He’d admitted he didn’t have a bomb. He gave up.”

The plane remained stationary for about 10 minutes before authorities removed the man. â€œWe waited there on the runway for about 10 minutes, the guys still pinning him, waiting for the police – it wasn’t very long but it felt like ages.”

EasyJet flight inspected, no explosives found

The plane landed safely at Glasgow Airport, where it was immediately met by local police and emergency response units. Officers boarded the aircraft and arrested the suspect without further incident. After a full inspection, officials confirmed that no explosives were found on the flight.

The Jerusalem Post quoted an EasyJet spokesperson confirming the incident. “Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival in Glasgow, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour onboard,” the spokesperson said.

"EasyJet's crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time. The safety and well-being of our customers and crew is always EasyJet's highest priority," they added.

A Scotland Police spokesperson also confirmed the disturbance on the flight.

“We received a report of a man causing a disturbance on a flight arriving in Glasgow around 8:20 am on Sunday, 27 July 2025. Officers boarded the plane on its arrival, and a 41-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody. Enquiries are continuing,” the spokesperson said.
