PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: A harrowing video has emerged showing the moment an individual sitting in a restaurant more than a quarter of a mile from the site of a fatal plane crash in Philadelphia was struck by debris.

The crash occurred on Friday, January 31, evening when a medical transport jet, the Jet Rescue Air Ambulance Learjet 55, plummeted to the ground seconds after takeoff, killing all six people onboard.

Debris from doomed plane tore through a nearby diner

The aircraft, which was heading for Tijuana, Mexico, had just departed from Philadelphia International Airport at around 6 pm local time, The Mirror reported.

The passengers aboard the flight included a little girl who had just received medical treatment at Shriners Children's Hospital, her mother, and four crew members. The crash also killed a car driver, while at least 19 others were injured as the plane wreckage scattered across the city, setting homes on fire.

CCTV footage from the Four Seasons Diner, located about a quarter of a mile from the main crash site, captured a terrifying moment as debris from the jet flew into the restaurant.

Diners can be seen ducking for cover as glass and metal fragments explode toward them. In the video, several people are seen crawling on the floor to safety, while others shield themselves from the flying wreckage.

One man sitting at the rear of the shot was struck in the head by a piece of debris, which knocked off his baseball cap. The man can be seen clutching his head in the clip before slumping to the bench.

Ayhan Tiryaki, the manager of the Four Seasons Diner, told The New York Post, “The one customer was hit in the head with a piece of metal and he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. We don’t know exactly how he is but we hope he’ll be OK.”

He added, “No one else in the diner had been hurt.”
