"For the President of the United States to make it about him in a way to attack Rob Reiner, because he exercised his American right to speak up about what he disagreed with, is shameful, disgraceful, and of all the disgusting things that Donald Trump has done, this is right up there," she added.
The POTUS on Monday took to Truth Social and wrote that Rob died "due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME."

Moreover, during an interaction with reporters in the White House, when a reporter asked Trump if he stands by his statement on Reiner, the POTUS said, "Well, I wasn't a fan of his at all. Trump's post garners criticism from Thomas Massie, Marjorie Taylor Greene
Trump's Truth Social post drew criticism across the political spectrum, with even some of his allies calling the remarks inappropriate. Reps Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) also publicly rebuked Trump for his remarks.
Massie shared Trump’s post and criticized its tone, saying it crossed a basic line of decency. "Regardless of how you felt about Rob Reiner, this is inappropriate and disrespectful discourse about a man who was just brutally murdered," Massie wrote.

I guess my elected GOP colleagues, the VP, and White House staff will just ignore it because they’re afraid? I challenge anyone to defend it. pic.twitter.com/j3dvzRxLQJ

He added, "I guess my elected GOP colleagues, the VP, and White House staff will just ignore it because they’re afraid? I challenge anyone to defend it."
Greene also echoed Massie’s criticism and urged compassion and to reject any attempt to politicize the deaths. She wrote, "Rob Reiner and his wife were tragically killed at the hands of their own son, who reportedly had d**g addiction and other issues, and their remaining children are left in serious mourning and heartbreak."

"This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies," Greene added, emphasizing that many families struggle with addiction and mental health crises and said such situations should be met with empathy, "especially when it ends in murder."
Moreover, Rep Mike Lawler (R-NY) said, "This statement is wrong. Regardless of one’s political views, no one should be subjected to violence, let alone at the hands of their own son. It’s a horrible tragedy that should engender sympathy and compassion from everyone in our country, period."
