NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Host Sunny Hostin was forced to read a "legal note" on the Tuesday, November 19, 2024, episode of 'The View', claiming that the troubling allegations against Matt Gaetz that were discussed on the show have been "long denied" by him and did not result in any charges being brought after the investigation.

Gaetz, the former representative from Florida, has recently been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump for the position of Attorney General in his upcoming administration.

While discussing Trump's list of nominees to head various departments in his second term, Hostin had warned of the implications of having Gaetz, who has faced multiple serious allegations including trafficking across state lines as the leader of the Department of Justice.

She was seconded by her co-host Whoopi Goldberg, who shared, "I’m saddened by it because all of those women who will have to get some defense of what’s happened to them, that’s who they’re going to, and this is someone who will just say, ‘It’s not a big deal.’"

What did the 'legal note' read by Sunny Hostin state?

Right before cutting off for a commercial break, Whoopi Goldberg reminded Sunny Hostin on the show, "Sunny, you have a legal note.”

“I do have a legal note. Thank you, Whoopi,” replied Hostin, and stared into the camera with a poker face expression.

"Matt Gaetz has long denied all allegations, calling the claims, quote, 'invented,' and saying in a statement to ABC News that 'this false smear following a three-year criminal investigation should be viewed with great skepticism,'" she stated. "The DOJ investigation was closed with no charges being brought," she added.

According to Mediaite, Hostin had to read a similar legal note in October while discussing Trump's alleged affair with Stormy Daniels.

"Trump has denied ever having an affair with Stormy Daniels,” she shared at the time, much to the amusement of the live audience.
