NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' host Sunny Hostin has deleted her X (formerly Twitter) account, describing the move as a "patriotic" protest against the platform’s owner, Elon Musk.

Hostin, 56, explained her decision during an appearance on the 'Behind The Table' podcast, expressing dissatisfaction with the direction Musk has taken the platform since acquiring it.

Sunny Hostin explains decision to delete X account

“Elon Musk took it over and I feel like he ruined it,” Sunny Hostin said. She also lamented the loss of “Black Twitter,” which she felt had been replaced with “misogyny and racism".

Hostin, a staunch Democrat, stated that she no longer wants to be associated with anything Musk owns, adding that she has no intention of buying a Tesla or investing in Tesla stock.

“I don’t want to be affiliated with anything that he owns,” Hostin said. “I think the most patriotic thing I could do right now is just to delete the account.”

The decision comes after Hostin faced significant backlash on X over comments she made regarding Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory.

On 'The View', Hostin suggested that Trump's win was driven by “uneducated White women” and Latino men. “I think [Trump's victory] had nothing to do with policy, I think this was a referendum on cultural resentment in this country,” she said.

“Black women tried to save this country again, last night… what we do not have is White women, who voted about 52 percent for Donald Trump – uneducated White women is my understanding. You have Latino men actually, voting more for him.”

While Sunny Hostin later clarified that she was referring to non-college-educated White women, her comments still sparked controversy. DailyMail.com columnist Maureen Callahan was among those criticizing Hostin’s remarks, writing, “Good riddance to Sunny Hostin, she of the 'uneducated white women' slur, from X.”

Some social media users also weighed in on Hostin’s departure, with one person writing, “Sunny Hostin deleted her X account after having a public meltdown over the election. More and more left wingers are leaving X I have a feeling some will be back because X and Rumble are by far the best apps.”

"Sunny Hostin had all that mouth for ‘uneducated white women,’ but now she’s uneducated on how to handle backlash. Guess it’s easier to delete an account than to delete bad takes. Stay bold? More like stay gone," one social media user added.

Another said, "'The only way anyone even knew Sunny Hostin was no longer on X is because .. we read about it on X. Perfect! She just cancelled herself. College educated white women send their regards Sunny,"

One person wrote, "Sucks to be wrong and full of crap and being called out on it. Bye ."

Another commented, "I’m just glad she’s gone."

One individual replied, "Wasn't she supposed to also be leaving The View?"

"All these people have decided to leave X because they cannot handle that those who disagree with them (a) won the election, and (b) are correct," added another.

Sunny Hostin drew flak for softball question to Kamala Harris

Previously, Sunny Hostin faced scrutiny following her softball question to Vice President Kamala Harris during an October interview. Hostin asked Harris what she would have changed about her time in the Biden administration, which many saw as an opportunity for Harris to distinguish herself.

Harris' response drew criticism. She said, “There’s not one thing that comes to mind.” Hostin later defended her follow-up question. “I followed up because I was surprised at the answer,” Hostin explained. “That wasn’t a gotcha question. It was really more about the answer. It was a layup, really.”
