WASHINGTON, DC: Following a hearing on the US departure from Afghanistan on Wednesday, March 20, former President Donald Trump referred to retired General Mark Milley, the former chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as a 'loser', according to The Hill.

Trump posted on Truth Social, "Mark Milley is a loser who shamed us in Afghanistan and elsewhere!" Notably, Trump has reacted harshly to his appointee on several occasions before.

Trump calls Mark Milley a 'Loser'

Trump has come under fire from Milley, who called him a 'wannabe dictator' in his September retirement address. In a post on Truth Social the week before that address, Trump accused Milley of treason, seemingly alluding to Milley's requests for assurances from China as Trump's tenure was ending.

Trump posted, "This is an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH! A war between China and the United States could have been the result of this treasonous act. To be continued!!!"

In response to Trump's September statement before the House Foreign Affairs Committee about the pullout from Afghanistan, Milley said on Tuesday, March 19, that while he doesn't '"agree with the comments, it's a free country, and people can say what they want."

Regarding the 13 US soldiers killed in the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal in 2021, Milley said, "With all due respect, guys, I’m here for the families of Abbey Gate. And I’ll leave those comments — as much as I don’t care for those comments, don’t agree with them — they have a right to say them."

He added, "But I’d like to stay focused on these families."

Internet stays divided as Trump labels Milley a 'Loser'

Several people on the internet stayed divided in their opinions and had mixed reactions to the situation. A user posted on X, "So many liars!" while one added, "What a shameful loser as a soldier.. both foreign and domestic.. haha.."

A user also wrote, "Then why did trump hire him? Also why did trump hire Christopher Wray?" whereas one stated, "And Donald Trump is the loser who shamed us in America and elsewhere."

A user also mentioned, "I respect your opinion, but others may disagree. Let's focus on building a stronger future rather than dwelling on the past," while one commented, "He's really bad, and yet you manage to be worse."
