'I love it': Internet in splits as Jimmy Kimmel says Donald Trump is 'still stewing' over his Oscars joke
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: Jimmy Kimmel revisited his ongoing feud with Donald Trump during his post-St Patrick's Day segment, reigniting the tensions that were fully stirred up at the 2024 Oscars earlier this month.
Amid sharing anecdotes about his son's expectations from leprechauns on the Monday, March 18, episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', the host took a jab at Trump, referring to him as "the large, orange leprechaun" and highlighting how the former president seemed fixated on him during the St Patrick's Day festivities.
Jimmy Kimmel mocks Donald Trump's Fox News interview
"St Fatty had an interview with Fox News," Kimmel noted, introducing a segment featuring the interview, before adding, "Apparently, he’s still stewing about a joke I made about him at the Oscars".
In the interview, a reporter pressed Trump on his ongoing clash with Kimmel, leading into Kimmel's reaction to Trump's remarks on his hosting skills on Truth Social.
Trump doubled down on his criticism, citing Kimmel's low ratings and questioning his talent. Yet, he couldn't resist boasting about the immense attention his post garnered, boasting that it had gone "viral all over the world".
"Yeah, by the way, you forget why it went viral all over the world," Kimmel retorted before replaying his response to Trump's Truth Social post, which read, "Thank you for watching. I’m surprised you’re still here, isn’t it past your jail time?"
The scenes from the 2024 Oscars captured Annette Bening, the star of 'Nyad', applauding and cheering to Kimmel's mocking of Trump, while 'Barbie' star Margot Robbie was seen giggling in her seat.
Kimmel remarked, "Barbie was laughing at you," before adding, "Not only were they laughing at you on Oscars Sunday, there are now dozens of ‘past your jail time shirts.'"
Jimmy Kimmel responds to Donald Trump's intelligence jab
Further in the episode, Jimmy Kimmel showcased various manifestations of the slogan, including a backpack adorned with the phrase, chalk graffiti outside the Trump Hotel, billboards in Pennsylvania, and more.
Addressing Trump's insinuation about his intelligence, Kimmel quipped, "Maybe you're right about me being dumb. Maybe we should take one of those cognitive tests or an IQ test together."
Kimmel's humor shone through as he suggested alternative methods of determining intelligence, such as a game of Scrabble. "Or maybe we could sit down for a long game of Scrabble and find out who has the bigger brain," he added.
He added, "I would love that. I would love to do that with you", subtly turning Trump's taunts into an opportunity for fun.
Despite Trump's apparent intent to wound, Kimmel chose to rise above the negativity. "Even though I know his intent was to hurt me, I'm going to focus on the positive things he said," he said.

Jimmy Kimmel's comedic take on Donald Trump slamming him and his show left social media users in splits as they took to the comments section of the video to troll the former president.

"Isn't it past your jail time?!" Is the BEST line ever!" said one more viewer.
