OKLAHOMA, UNITED STATES: Social media users were stunned recently when a video surfaced showing school children licking toes at a fundraising event in an Oklahoma school. The video received a lot of criticism, with many users describing it as 'disgusting and disturbing'.

Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters even shared the footage and announced an investigation into the incident.

Posting the video on platform X, Walters commented, "This is disgusting. We are cleaning up this filth in Oklahoma schools. Our agency is investigating."

Oklahoma school under investigation

According to Fox News, a video was obtained by the outlet and it belonged to Deer Creek High School in Edmond, Oklahoma. The footage captured a week-long fundraiser for a local coffee shop that employs people with special needs.

Students from 9th through 12th grade volunteered for various class competitions that attendees paid to watch.

The disturbing video shows student volunteers paired up, with one sitting on a chair while the other lays down and licks peanut butter off their toes.

As reported by Fox News, Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, condemned the video, equating the actions in the clip to "child abuse".

Despite the backlash, the school praised the fundraiser's success.

In a statement, they announced, "This afternoon, Deer Creek High School announced a grand total of $152,830.38 raised for Not Your Average Joe Coffee, an organization created to 'inspire our community by including students and adults with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities'."

The statement further clarified, "On Thursday, February 29, 2024, Deer Creek High School hosted an assembly called the Clash of Classes for students who paid to attend. No Deer Creek faculty or staff participated in any of the games during this Clash of Classes assembly."

Internet demands incharge of fundraiser to be 'arrested'

The video left social media users fuming.

A user wrote, "Dear Lord. please make this stop. This is beyond disgusting and disturbing."

Another user wrote, "Every employee that even knew about it needs to be fired. Everyone that partook needs to go to jail."

A user commented, "Why did they think this was ok??? soooo many adults involved with this and not one said stop lets think about this??? Fire the entire staff envolved with this. Every parent should pull their kids and boycott until this is done."

Another user commented, "Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? In what world is this appropriate?"

A user stated, "Those in charge need to be arrested."
