LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent episode of 'The View', Whoopi Goldberg voiced her astonishment at the current political landscape of the United States, particularly focusing on the surprising openness of some members of Congress to Russia's policies compared to their own national interests.

The discussion unfolded during an interview with House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries, where the spotlight was on the GOP's resistance to providing more aid to Ukraine.

Hakeem Jeffries says 'pro-Putin faction' is growing within GOP

"The problem that we’re encountering with some of my Republican colleagues is that there’s a growing pro-Putin faction in the Republican Party, and it’s led by Donald Trump, some other outside figures like Tucker Carlson and on the inside, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Jim Jordan," Jeffries explained.

He emphasized the importance of standing by Ukraine, stating, "And what we’re saying is that standing by Ukraine is standing by America’s national security interests."

Calling for a bipartisan approach to the issue, Jeffries urged Republican leadership in the House to bring the aid bill to the floor for a vote. "Yeah, and that’s why it should be done in a bipartisan way. And we’re calling upon the Republican leadership in our House to just put the bill on the floor for an up or down vote," he said.

Alyssa Farah Griffin inquired about efforts to collaborate with Republicans on this matter, to which Jeffries replied, "Well, all options legislatively are definitely on the table."

Goldberg reflects on unprecedented alliances

As the interview concluded, Goldberg interjected with a poignant observation, expressing disbelief at the current state of affairs. "Did you ever think you would have this conversation about some people being more open to Russia’s policies than to our own?"

Goldberg acknowledged the abnormality of the situation and thanked Jeffries for shedding light on the matter, inviting him to return anytime.

The conversation reflected the evolving dynamics within the Republican Party and the broader implications for US foreign policy. As the nation grapples with these shifts, it remains to be seen how bipartisan efforts will shape the response to critical issues such as providing aid to Ukraine.
