EAU CLAIRE, WISCONSIN: Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is under fire after suggesting the creation of a “shadow government” to counter what he describes as anti-democratic actions by the Trump administration.

Speaking at a town hall in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Walz voiced concerns over voting rights and proposed an alternative structure to ensure transparency, Fox News reported.

“We see one of the first things they do is try and restrict the vote,” Walz said, referring to Trump’s policies.

He added, “This is one of the things, though, that this is going to take power industry to I don’t know what the answer is on this, but I’m kind of I’ve been saying this. I think we need a shadow government, so when all these things come up every single day, we’ve got an alternate press conference telling the truth about what things are happening, tell them what’s going on.”

The comment immediately triggered strong reactions, particularly from conservatives who saw it as extreme.

Trump’s social media team wasted no time in responding, labeling Walz an “unhinged loser” and claiming his remarks were a desperate attempt to push back against policies requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration.

South Carolina Rep Nancy Mace chimed in with sarcasm: “Pls keep this up sir.”

The term “shadow government” is more commonly associated with British politics, where opposition leaders form an unofficial cabinet to challenge the ruling government’s policies.

Meanwhile, Walz also shared a lighthearted moment about being humbled by his own son, Gus, who poked fun at his father’s political losses.

“I was having one of those dad talks with him,” Walz recalled. “I was giving Gus my wisdom on what he had done wrong, you know, because I know these things, right, I'm a dad? And in the middle of it, he gives me the old, ‘Says the guy who got his a** kicked by Donald Trump.’”
