WASHINGTON, DC: Tim Walz reportedly warned Kamala Harris that he was a bad debater when the two met for a running mate interview at the vice president's Washington, DC residence on August 4.

The Minnesota governor's debate skills were tested on Tuesday, October 1, by JD Vance, and widely criticized across the political spectrum by pundits, who said the Democrat seemed unprepared and acted nervous and fidgety during the faceoff, as per the New York Post.

Despite Tim Walz’s warning about his bad debating skills, Kamala Harris picked him over other contenders like Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, highlighting her and Walz’s rapport.

As the VP debate neared, the Minnesota governor shared his anxiety regarding the faceoff with some of his confidants, saying that he was worried he would let the vice president down and make her regret choosing him, according to a report by CNN.

Meanwhile, the Trump-Vance campaign shot down reports of Walz's anxiety, highlighting the hours of past debate footage that the GOP team had collected.

Senior Trump campaign advisor Jason Miller said on Monday, "Tim Walz is very good in debates. Really good. He’ll be very well prepared for tomorrow night."

He added, "He’s not going to be the wildly gesticulating, effeminate caricature we see at rallies pointing to Kamala Harris and dancing about on the stage; Walz is going to be buttoned up."

Tim Walz's gaffe-filled faceoff against JD Vance

Tim Walz's stumbling start to the VP debate was a sign of surety to the low expectations set by the Democrats.

He flubbed the first question about whether he would back a preemptive strike by Israel against Iran as he confused the two countries. After a while, he called himself a "knucklehead" while answering a question on why he had lied about being in China during the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre, per the New York Post.

While talking about school shootings, he made a bizarre statement about becoming "friends" with shooters. He made the remark after moderators asked him how he changed his mind about banning "assault weapons."

Walz said, "I sat in that office with those Sandy Hook parents. I became friends with school shooters. I've seen it."

He later tried to clarify his statement by telling reporters that he was speaking about people impacted by school shootings.

During a campaign stop in Pennsylvania, the governor elaborated, "I was talking about meeting people where there are school shooters, and I need to be more specific on that. But I am passionate about this. This one, for my wife and I, is just, as teachers, as parents, is so personal."

Tim Walz faces trolling for his several gaffes during the vice presidential debate

Netizens were quick to mock Tim Walz over his many slip-ups during the vice presidential debate against JD Vance.

One wrote, "They had to choose someone who was even less qualified than Kamala. I think they found someone who perfectly fits the bill," while another added, "'Knucklehea' The new synonym for LIAR!"

"I wonder how long it took little Timmy after that before he realized he f-ed up" quipped a person, with someone else saying, "On all the things to fumble your words on a nationally televised debate. This was the worst-case scenario!"

One more remarked, "He’s something else," while another person commented, "Tim Walz has NO DAMN BUSINESS around a school, and CERTAINLY no where near the White House!"

"Total gaffe and not what he meant to say but he looked moronic saying it," stated an individual, possibly pointing at one of his many blunders from the faceoff.
