During his appearance on the podcast, Cruise spoke highly of Swift and Travis while discussing their talents and outlook on life. Referring to Swift, he told Travis, “She’s a cook, a painter, a writer, a poet, and look at you.”
He explained that he admires people who can take something and create in it, adding that he goes around looking at people’s skills, trying to understand them, learn from them, and consider how those abilities can be applied.
Cruise then called them a “beautiful couple,” and continued, “Like, really, beautiful, it’s lovely in every way and your whole family, your friends, from the moment that I met you all, it’s just, it’s really beautiful.”
Travis thanked the 'Top Gun' star for his comments, saying, “I’m a lucky son of a buck, man.” Cruise responded, “Yeah, but you create your own luck, man,” prompting Travis’ older brother, Jason Kelce, to agree and add, “He has done that.”
Cruise also praised Jason as they discussed the Kelce family’s approach to difficult situations. “As you’re going through it — you too, man — your family and everything, you have a choice of how you’re gonna lift everybody, or you can focus on the negative,” he said.
He explained that maintaining a positive outlook doesn't mean assuming everything will be fine, but figuring out why something didn't work and adjusting while keeping the belief that “we’re gonna make this work,” no matter how difficult the situation gets.
Tom Cruise recalls being schooled by Taylor Swift on football
Cruise had previously revealed details about his conversation with Swift during an appearance on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' on September 17. Fallon asked what the two spoke about after Cruise and Swift were seen sitting together in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday, September 14, as the Chiefs faced the Denver Broncos.
“When the biggest movie star in the world is sitting next to the biggest artist in the world, what do you talk about?” Fallon asked. Cruise replied, “She was schooling me on football.” When Fallon asked if he was serious, Cruise insisted, “For real.”
Cruise said Swift “was bringing the football” and praised her, calling her “a genius” and saying he had followed her since she was a child.
He also described Swift and Travis as “a beautiful couple and magical in their own right,” while praising everyone who was with them in the suite. Cruise said he had not attended a football game since before COVID-19, when he had been working, and described getting to spend time at the game as “a lot of fun.” He added that Swift “knows her stuff.”
In addition to watching the game with Swift, Cruise attended her London Eras Tour stop at Wembley Stadium, where Travis famously took the stage with his future bride. Cruise is currently promoting his new film 'Digger.'
