Janet Jackson helped shape Tom Holland's career
During the interview, the host brought up Jackson, saying she could watch the actor dance all day before mentioning that Holland “loves” the 60-year-old singer. “Yes, I love Janet Jackson so so much,” the BAFTA Award winner asserted, prompting Poehler to ask him to elaborate.
Holland then said, “Man, she’s electric. To be perfectly honest with you, if you ask me to list five people who have been integral in the success of my career she would be one of them.”
Tom Holland never met Janet Jackson but credits her for his success
He also disclosed that he has never met Jackson but shared that his mother enrolled him in dance classes after noticing his talent, which helped him build his career.
Holland added, “I never wanted to be an actor, it was never like I sat down with my parents and said I have this dream of being famous. So if it had not been for that song when I was a kid, I probably would not be” what he’s today.
Tom Holland's Spider-Man training started early
This came after another childhood video of the ‘Billy Elliot’ star went viral online. The rare footage of Holland as an infant was posted by his father, Dominic, to mark his birthday.
The clip shows a young Holland gripping a rope with his hands while his mother, Nikki, holds him. Dominic, who is believed to be recording the moment, can be heard saying, “Let go, then.”
Nikki then responds, “Let him go?” to which Holland Sr says, “Apparently they can hang on, you know. Yeah, apparently he can.” Dominic captioned the sweet memory, “Happy 30th Tom! In training from day dot,” appearing to refer to his future role as Spider-Man.
Tom Holland eyes future Spider-Man successors
Holland, however, recently shared in an interview that he would love to introduce a new face to the 'Spider-Man' franchise someday.
“For whoever’s next, whether that is a Miles Morales or a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman or something like that, I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter,” he stated.
Holland further added, “Whatever that looks like, I don’t know. But if I could do what Downey did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset.”
