WASHINGTON, DC: Tony Bobulinski, a former business associate of Hunter Biden, is suing Cassidy Hutchinson, an ex-Trump adviser, for allegedly suggesting that he had a “shady business dealing” with Mark Meadows, the White House chief of staff, before to the 2020 election, according to the New York Post.

In her 2023 tell-all book about her time as Meadows' assistant, Hutchinson "chosen to viciously defame" the "decorated Navy veteran," according to Bobulinski's attorneys, who filed a defamation complaint in federal court in Georgia on Monday, March 4.

Hutchinson is accused of misrepresenting a meeting between Bobulinski and Meadows on November 1, 2020, at a Trump campaign event in Rome, Georgia, by "dishonestly portraying it to be unethical and, possibly, illegal," according to the lawsuit.

It demands that the statement be retracted and that Bobulinski be awarded $10 million for having his reputation damaged and his safety threatened.

Hutchinson gained notoriety in June 2022 when she stated that President Donald Trump attempted to take hold of his SUV's steering wheel and drive up to join his supporters at the Capitol. Hutchinson was a star witness for the House select committee that looked into the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.

The driver, a Secret Service member in the SUV at the time, and the White House staffer all denied the alleged occurrence, which Hutchinson said was reported to her. Bobulinski's legal team stated that their client was prepared to forfeit all funds provided that she gave twenty percent of her book advance to a pediatric hospital.

Hutchinson wrote in her book, "In the shadows of the bleachers, I observed Mark and Tony Bobulinski’s interaction through a gap in the vehicles. When they said their goodbyes, I saw Mark hand Tony what appeared to be a folded sheet of paper or a small envelope. Mark walked toward me, staring at the ground."

A few weeks prior, Bobulinski had visited Trump during his second and last debate with Joe Biden, following his accusations that the Democratic nominee had misled about his role in his son Hunter's international company.

Bobulinski stated in his testimony before the House Oversight Committee on February 13 that Hutchinson's account of the meeting was untrue. He said that Meadows had not given him anything and that he was not donning a ski mask.

The Navy veteran’s attorneys wrote in their suit, "Mr Bobulinski met with Mr Meadows because Mr Bobulinski was experiencing death threats and Mr Meadows wanted to check on his well-being. The meeting was utterly innocuous."
