WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden asked to drop the House Republicans' impeachment inquiry against him in light of the FBI charging a confidential informant for giving false information about him and his son, Hunter Biden, as per the New York Post.

Special counsel David Weiss on February 15 indicted Alexander Smirnov for making false statements against the Bidens and creating a false and fictitious record to substantiate the statements.

The POTUS responded to the questions regarding the confidential source's indictment with a broad smile and said, "He is lying, and it should be dropped, and it's just been an outrageous effort from the beginning."

Earlier, Rep Jamie Raskin raised the same demand, claiming the House GOP's impeachment inquiry was based on a "lie."

Smirnov was the same person the House Republicans considered "a highly credible FBI source" to prove the POTUS and the first son received $5 million each from Ukrainian energy company Burisma when Joe was the Vice President.

However, the latest FBI findings stated that Smirnov fabricated the information to raise the bribery allegations during Joe's 2020 presidential bid.

House GOP releases Tony Bobulinski's statement alleging Joe Biden's role in the family business

House Republicans, in an attempt to prove the POTUS' involvement in the family business, released a transcript of ex-Biden family associate Tony Bobulinski's testimony, according to a New York Post report.

"Joe Biden was more than a participant in and a beneficiary of his family's business; he was an enabler, despite being buffered by a complex scheme to maintain plausible deniability," claimed Bobulinski about his role in a business collaboration with Chinese state-linked CEFC China Energy.

The former Biden family associate also unveiled a text message that indicated the incumbent's relationship with CEFC started in 2015 when he was the Vice President. He further doubled down on his previous claim of discussing the business venture with him in 2017.

As of now, the House Republicans are attempting to move forward with the impeachment inquiry amid his reelection bid, which will likely end in a Biden vs Trump showdown.

Despite the Republican's bribery claims against the president, getting undermined after the FBI informant's indictment, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer declared his confidence, stating the impeachment inquiry was "not reliant" on charges against Smirnov.

Internet disagrees with Joe Biden's insistence on dropping the impeachment inquiry

Netizens did not reflect the POTUS' demand to do away with the impeachment inquiry. Instead, they asserted the FBI informant's indictment would make no changes to the accusations against him.

One wrote, "Sorry the FBI targeting this guy changes nothing," and another said, "'Accused' does not mean 'found guilty of'. The informants claims should be investigated before anything else is decided, to see if they're valid or not."

"Almost like he setup the excuse," remarked a person, while someone else added, "Not so nice when the shoe is on the other foot. Your time in the courts is coming."

An individual quipped, "OK then. Stealing classified documents it is."

One more pointed out, "Sorry Joe, the investigation is primarily from your shady business dealings with the CCP of China."
