WASHINGTON, DC: Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi labeled ex-President Donald Trump a "national security risk" during a conversation with CNN's Anderson Cooper on February 12.

"It's really a sad situation for our country because he's [Trump] been a national security risk. He was a personal risk that day for so many. People were injured, over 100 police officers. Law enforcement people were injured, some people died," Pelosi said as per the video clip of the CNN interview shared on X by Senior Digital Editor for Meidas Touch news network ACYN.

The Democratic Congresswoman slammed the former President while expressing her opinion on his remarks about the January 6 Capitol attack.

Trump, during a rally speech in New Hampshire in January, confused Pelosi with GOP presidential opponent Nikki Haley when talking about the Capitol attack. The Republican frontrunner raised concerns regarding his cognitive fitness as he claimed Haley was in charge of the Capitol security on the day.

Nancy Pelosi defends Joe Biden on special counsel report

Pelosi drew attention to the multiple gaffes Trump had made to defend President Joe Biden in light of the special counsel report that questioned his mental acuity and memory.

The California lawmaker pointed out nobody made a fuss when the 77-year-old ex-president mixed up her name with Haley.

"For some reason, it's okay if you're 77 and making a mistake five times in a row or whatever he did then. But if you're Joe Biden, then they hold you to a higher standard," Pelosi said on CNN.

She also mentioned that Democrats are always held up to a "higher standard," which they can live up to.

Special Counsel Robert Hur's report on the President holding classified documents made a bombshell statement describing the 81-year-old incumbent as an "elderly man with a poor memory."

Pelosi expressed her "pride" over Biden and shielded him on the classified documents mishandling report, stating he has been "very open."

"He has given access to his venues, his home here and there, his documents, whatever it is. And this other one, you had to have a subpoena to even have access denying you had them and telling his staff to comply with his misrepresentations about it," the Congresswoman said.

"So it's really sad what the special counsel came out with. He should have, you prosecute, or you don't; it's a professional thing to do."

First Lady Jill Biden also slammed the special counsel report for claiming Biden had no memory of the date of his first son Beau Biden's death.

Internet reacts

Netizens had mixed reactions to Pelosi calling Trump a "national security risk." While some users criticized her for their blind hate towards the ex-president, another group lauded her smartness at 83.

One user wrote, "I feel dizzy."

Another user wrote, "Pelosi and the Democrats are just too blinded by their hatred for Trump to admit that Biden has been making some serious mistakes lately."

While a third user opined, "Nancy Pelosi is 83 and always the smartest damned person in the room. Just figure that's worth pointing out."

"Damn straight!" a fourth response read. Whereas one user added, "That seems a bit rich coming from mumbling Nancy. A little self awareness goes a long way."
