OKALOOSA COUNTY, FLORIDA: The heartbreaking final post of Kadance Fredericksen — an 18-year-old pageant queen — has now been revealed after she died in a car crash in Florida.

The Miss Teen USA pageant competitor lost her life on Monday, February 17, while she was driving her sedan down Highway 4 in Baker, a town in the Florida Panhandle before it smacked head-on into a tractor-trailer, the Daily Mail reported.

Just days before her death, Fredericksen shared on her Instagram account that she had received a $40,000 scholarship.

Kadance Fredericksen expressed gratitude to Ellison McCraney Ingram Foundation

In her February 7 social media post, Kadance Fredericksen wrote, “I am incredibly grateful to be selected as a recipient of this year's Ellison McCraney Ingram Foundation $40,000 Scholarship. This generous support will help shape my future and bring me one step closer to achieving my dreams.”

“Thank you to the Ingram family, the foundation, and everyone involved for this amazing honor!” the teenager added in her post that showed her attending a dinner on February 6 for the winners and their families.

The publication reported that the $40,000 scholarship was given to Fredericksen by a foundation launched by the family of McCraney Ingram, a nine-year-old boy who died from a bleeding brain tumor in 2021.

The young woman was already given one of the five $40,000 scholarships, which were divided into $10,000 increments per year.

Kadance Fredericksen was also the founder of Kada’s Promise, a charity initiative that she set up in 2017 after becoming Little Miss Northwest Florida.

The charity reportedly gives teddy bears and blankets to children in foster care, homeless and abuse shelter homes, and hospitals.

On its website, Fredericksen wrote, “During many dark times in my early childhood, the only thing that I could call my own or that made me feel safe was a single teddy bear that I received as a gift.

“I carried him with me from house to house, couch to couch and clutched him tightly in the scariest times. It is from these memories that Kada’s Promise was born,” she noted.

In 2024, she revealed to TV20, “When I was little, I was abused and neglected by my biological mother and stepfather.”

“During those times, the only thing I had to call my own was a stuffed animal I received as a gift years beforehand. Now that I’m in a safe home with a safe family, I learned I wasn’t the only kid that went through that,” Fredericksen added in the post, as per WCJB.
