WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump abruptly ended a contentious NBC News interview that aired Sunday, June 7, after a heated exchange with anchor Kristen Welker, accusing major media outlets of pushing one-sided narratives and refusing to back down as the questioning turned into a prolonged confrontation over election integrity and January 6.

In the dramatic moment, Trump repeatedly pushed back against Welker's challenges, ultimately deciding he had heard enough before bringing the conversation to an early close.

The interview reached a boiling point when Welker repeatedly pressed Trump over his claims regarding election irregularities and recent vote-counting controversies in California.

Trump defended his position, arguing that Americans have lost confidence in the electoral process and accusing major news organizations of dismissing legitimate concerns.

As the back-and-forth intensified, Trump turned his attention directly toward the media.

“Your elections are crooked and you're crooked, and Meet the Press is crooked,” Trump said.

He went on to criticize several major television networks, arguing that they consistently present one-sided coverage while refusing to seriously examine concerns raised by millions of voters.

Welker attempted to challenge Trump's claims and steer the discussion back to specific policy issues, but the president remained combative throughout the exchange.

After several minutes of argument, Trump made it clear he was no longer interested in continuing the discussion.

“Let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough,” Trump said before standing up and ending the interview.

Welker responded by noting that her team had traveled to Wisconsin for the conversation and urged the president to continue. Trump was unmoved.

“I've sat in the rain with you for an hour,” he replied. “I've given you enough time.”

The president then hit Welker with a reality check, saying, “a country can never be great with a dishonest press” before finally walking away.

Clash comes amid renewed election debate

The confrontation followed a series of recent comments from Trump regarding election procedures, particularly in California, where he has argued that lengthy vote-counting periods undermine public confidence.

Throughout the interview, Trump maintained that concerns about election integrity deserve greater scrutiny and accused legacy media organizations of dismissing those concerns rather than investigating them.

The exchange quickly went viral online, with supporters praising Trump for refusing to continue what they viewed as a hostile line of questioning, while critics argued the president avoided difficult questions.
