CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: President Donald Trump on Friday, February 27, sharply criticized former president Joe Biden and the political left for their policies toward the US oil industry. He also praised America’s renewed relationship with Venezuela and highlighting the results of his energy agenda ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

Speaking at the Port of Corpus Christi, with the Gulf of America adorned with oil tankers behind him, Trump also highlighted falling gas prices, increased oil and natural gas production, and rising liquefied natural gas exports as key achievements.

Trump rebukes Joe Biden over US oil policy direction

Addressing dock workers, Trump pointed to a tanker behind him and emphasized the growing partnership. “And I want to thank Venezuela because our relationship is a very good one. We’re a very, very good one. We’re having a very good relationship. That boat, that ship is from Venezuela,” he said.

He rebuked Biden stating, "For four long years before I took office, the Biden administration, sleepy Joe Biden, one of the worst presidents in history. Not one of the, I have to think the worst, how could you get, can you get worse?

He continued, "he's the worst president we've ever. And his allies in Congress waged a radical left war on American oil and natural gas like you've never seen before. They were killing us.'

He further added, “They were killing our country and killing your area right here. In fact, they say if I wanted, I could work. If I ran for the mayor of Corpus Christi, would I win?” He was met with loud applause from the crowd, prompting him to respond, “ I think so. ”

Trump continued, "What the hell? I looked at your job stats. You have done very well with Trump. They killed the Keystone XL pipeline." He then said that with “our new friend and partner, Venezuela,” the United States would be “doing a lot of other things” and described having “a great relationship with their government.”

Trump lauds Delcy Rodriguez, touts energy growth in remarks

Trump also praised Former President Nicolas Maduro’s interim successor, Delcy Rodriguez, saying she had complied with his demands to send oil to the US and allow American companies to reclaim a leading role in the country’s oil sector.

This came less than two months after he ordered a military raid to capture Maduro who is currently facing federal dr*g and weapons charges.

“For the benefit of both our nations, we’re going to refine their oil right here in America and right here in Texas and then export it to all over the world. We’re going to keep some for ourselves,” Trump said.

He continued, “We’re going to give some to them, and they’re going to make more money than they’ve ever made before. We’ll help build their country again, which was a disaster, and we’re going to build it up, and we’re going to benefit also, and that’s the way we’re supposed to be, right? It’s going to be great.”

Trump previously ordered the seizure of Venezuelan tankers that departed in the waning days of Maduro’s leadership, though the whereabouts of those ships remained a mystery.

He also highlighted broader US energy gains, stating that “nationwide exports of liquefied natural gas are up 37% — think of that — in the past year, the highest level in American history. And going up a lot. Crude oil exports are up by hundreds of thousands of barrels a day.”

The visit was designed to underscore his messaging on affordability issues. Trump noted that there would be more generous tax refunds this year for senior citizens, car buyers, and people who earn overtime and tips due to legislation he signed last year.
