WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump’s campaign has outraised President Joe Biden’s campaign in the second quarter of 2024, with just four months remaining before Election Day.

According to a campaign release, Trump’s team pulled in a remarkable $331 million during April, May, and June, surpassing Biden’s fundraising total of $264 million in the same period.

Not only did Trump’s campaign outpace Biden’s in overall fundraising, but it also ended June with a substantial cash-on-hand advantage, holding $284.9 million compared to Biden’s $240 million. This marks a notable shift in the fundraising dynamics, as Biden had been leading throughout most of the election cycle.

Trump’s financial surge began in April, when his campaign outraised Biden’s for the first time. The gap widened further in May, although Biden’s campaign narrowly outperformed Trump’s in June, raising $127 million to Trump’s $111.8 million. Despite this late push, it wasn’t enough to close the second-quarter gap, per The Hill.

The Trump campaign highlighted this momentum in their release. “President Trump’s campaign fundraising operation is thriving day after day and month after month. Winning this quarter brought us a cash-on-hand advantage, which is punctuated by a Biden burn rate that grows while yielding no tangible results for them,” said campaign advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles.

The release of these figures comes amid backlash against Biden’s performance in his recent debate with Trump, with some within his own party calling for him to drop out of the race. In response, the Biden campaign emphasized that it raised $38 million in the days following the debate, with $30 million coming from grassroots efforts, making June their best fundraising month of the cycle.

However, Trump’s campaign continues to gain financial momentum. “This fundraising momentum is likely to grow even more as we head into a world-class convention and see the Democrats continue their circular firing squad in the aftermath of Biden’s debate collapse,” LaCivita and Wiles added.

The deadline for campaigns to submit their second-quarter filings to the Federal Election Commission is July 15, setting the stage for an intense financial showdown as Election Day approaches.

Netizens erupt over Trump's fundraising success

Following the announcement of Trump's impressive second-quarter fundraising haul, social media lit up with a mix of skepticism and criticism.

An online critic tweeted, "The majority of the money came from his billionaire donors.. His cult receive their government payment this week."

Another said, "Him saying doesn't make it real. Show real receipts. A few zillionaires throwing a few millions this beggar's way is not indicative of anything."

A third claimed, "Uh huh they always say "you got 2 we got 4"".

A fourth tweeted, "Conservatives love funneling money to the rich."

"Billionaires betting on another tax break and submitting bribes to trump," read a tweet.

"Trump fleeces his cult," penned a user.
