Trump admin to cut off undocumented immigrants from over 15 federal aid programs: 'It's America first'

WASHINGTON, DC: The White House has unveiled a sweeping initiative aimed at barring undocumented immigrants from accessing a wide range of taxpayer-funded assistance programs.
As part of a renewed crackdown, the Donald Trump administration announced Tuesday, July 8, that more than 15 federal aid programs, including health, education, and workforce services, will be off-limits to individuals who are living in the country illegally.
These programs collectively cost taxpayers over $40 billion annually.
White House moves to cut off federal benefits for undocumented immigrants
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers told Fox News Digital that the administration is moving to prevent undocumented immigrants from accessing public benefits, emphasizing that such programs should be reserved for “hardworking American taxpayers.”
“That ends now. Under President Trump, it’s America first — always,” he added.

A significant portion of the federal programs that are being restricted for undocumented immigrants are administered by the Department of Health and Human Services, with additional oversight by the Departments of Education, Agriculture, Labor, and Justice.
According to the White House, undocumented individuals will no longer have access to services like Head Start, substance abuse prevention and recovery programs, family planning support, and financial aid for health-related professions, such as loan forgiveness and scholarships.
The decision reflects Trump’s twin priorities, tightening immigration control and curbing what he considers unnecessary government spending.
This announcement comes shortly after the passage of the "big, beautiful bill," a cornerstone of Trump’s flagship tax and spending legislation. One of the most debated elements in Congress was the role of Medicaid, the public health program serving low-income and disabled Americans.
White House defends Medicaid overhaul
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the change during a press briefing last month.
"This bill PROTECTS Medicaid," says @PressSec on the One Big Beautiful Bill.

“This bill preserves Medicaid for those who truly deserve this program, the needy, pregnant women, children, and sick Americans who physically cannot work. It ensures that able-bodied Americans who can work 20 hours a week are actually doing so, and that will therefore strengthen and protect those benefits for Americans who need it,” she said.
Leavitt estimated that approximately 1.4 million undocumented immigrants will be removed from Medicaid under the new rules, describing the move as a crackdown on “waste, fraud, and abuse.”
Nina Schaefer of The Heritage Foundation called the Medicaid reforms “old and has been running on autopilot for far too long,” adding, “These changes begin to bring much-needed oversight, transparency, and accountability to the program.”
Internet reacts after White House announces move to cut off public benefits for undocumented immigrants

The White House's recent pledge to remove undocumented immigrants' access to taxpayer-funded benefits has ignited a wave of reactions online, with supporters applauding the move as long overdue.
Many praised the policy, with one saying, “This never should've happened in the first place. Everyone, including visitors, pays sales taxes, but only those who pay federal income taxes and are here legally should be entitled to federal programs.”
“Good. Removing these benefits is another positive step in restoring the border. We should increase enforcement with employers and with landlords and banks. Remove the reasons people come in illegally and it will stop,” another wrote.
A person expressed, “That money can be used for Medicare to cover dental, vision, hearing for seniors without advantage plans,” while someone else added, “How about we DON'T treat them, deport them and let THEIR country treat them."
Pro-Trump supporters celebrated the move as a win for American taxpayers, with one saying, “Thank you, President Trump, for saving my hard-earned tax dollars! Proudly MAGA!”
Another commented, “Thank you President Trump for looking out for our hard-working, law-abiding, and loyal tax-paying American citizens, that have been pushed aside, and trampled over for four years under the Biden/Harris Administration's 'wide open border' colossal immigration catastrophe, that has cost America dearly. Bravo! God Bless Americans.”
