WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump is likely to end his bromance with Elon Musk as soon as the latter hurts him in polls, pro-democracy group Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson shared in an interview with The Guardian published on Sunday, February 9.

According to the Irish Star, the alliance between Trump and Musk, which was set up ahead of the 2024 presidential election, is arguably one of the most powerful in modern US history. The Tesla CEO donated $288 million to Trump's campaign, for which Trump rewarded him by creating an entire department (DOGE) to be led by Musk.

While Musk's work in the Department of Government Efficiency has run into snag by court orders, his relationship with the POTUS is also fast headed for a breakup, as per critics.

Rick Wilson's prediction on Trump-Musk break-up

Rick Wilson believes Trump would not waste a moment with Elon Musk if the latter becomes a hindrance in his political career.

"They will collide eventually. When Trump sees Elon causing political damage to him, he’ll cut the cord in a hot minute," he stated. "It won’t even take five heartbeats. Once he sees that Elon is dragging him down in the polling – and Elon has become spectacularly unpopular in the last few weeks – Elon’s going to have a rough moment."

The duo did not always use to be on great terms. Back in 2016, when Trump ran successfully for the White House for the first time, Musk claimed that he “doesn’t seem to have the sort of character that reflects well on the United States." Trump responded to the jibe in 2022, calling Musk a "bulls**t artist."

Even in the current presidency, the relationship between the two has come under strain, as Trump once asserted that Musk would not be allowed to perform in his capacity as the chair of DOGE without his approval.

Internet agrees with Rick Wilson's prediction

Netizens have long predicted along the lines of Rick Wilson that Trump and Elon Musk are eventually headed for a messy split. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"I'm concerned a little, but Musk & Trump? I don't they'll get along for six months, a yr at the most," wrote a user.

"It’s only a matter of time before Donald Trump and Elon Musk break up - egos that big can never coexist for long," shared another.

"It has been my experience that a partnership of nearly identical individuals rarely lasts. This is why the Trump/Musk relationship will likely deteriorate, and cannibalize itself," argued a third.

"Looking at the relationship chart between Trump and Musk I can tell you this bromance is going to break up April-May 2027," quipped an online astrologer.

"The good thing about the relationship between #Elon and #Donald is that it’s not going to last four years. A few months, at most. And then they will hopefully spend the rest of their miserable lives trying to destroy each other. And they will hopefully succeed," chided a fifth.
