LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump have reportedly been left off the guest list for this year’s ultra-exclusive Vanity Fair Oscar party.

The development comes as the magazine dramatically trims its invite roster ahead of the Academy Awards.

The annual bash, long considered one of Hollywood’s most coveted invitations, is undergoing a major reset in 2026. According to reports, the couple simply did not make the cut after organizers slashed the guest list by half.

Vanity Fair tightens its exclusive guest list

The star-studded after-party, held each year alongside the Oscars, has been one of the entertainment industry’s most elite gatherings since 1994. But under new leadership, the event is reportedly becoming even more selective.

Vanity Fair editor Mark Guiducci, who took over from Radhika Jones last June, has reportedly “gutted” the guest list, narrowing it to Hollywood’s top-tier A-listers.

According to Page Six, only a personal invitation or winning an Oscar will guarantee entry this year. An insider told the outlet that “no Trump administration officials have been invited this year.”

The move signals a clear shift in tone for the high-profile event, which in past years welcomed a broader mix of political and media figures alongside film stars.

Beyond the reduced guest list, new restrictions are also rumored to be in place. Insiders claim Guiducci has ordered that press remain outside on the red carpet and that social media use will not be permitted inside the party.

Over the years, the event had gradually expanded its reach. One insider explained the evolution, saying, “The A-list names still showed, but they increasingly shared the room with brand partners, media buyers, press, and industry-adjacent plus ones.”

That shift may be exactly why organizers are tightening access for 2026.

Political figures have attended the party in the past, including former Vice President Kamala Harris and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Trump and Melania themselves previously attended in 2005 and 2011.

98th Academy Awards set for March 15 ceremony

The reported snub comes as Hollywood gears up for the 98th Academy Awards, scheduled for Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 7 PM EST. The ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles.

The show will honor films released in 2025 and will be broadcast live on ABC while also streaming on Hulu. Comedian Conan O'Brien is set to return as host. Meanwhile, the Vanity Fair Oscar party will be held the same night at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, maintaining its tradition as the most sought-after after-party in town, even as its guest list grows noticeably smaller.
