WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump has called for Hakeem Jeffries’ impeachment after his criticism of a recent ruling by the Supreme Court.

The Republican leader attacked the House minority leader after he called the apex court “illegitimate” over its decision in Louisiana v. Callais.

Taking to Truth Social on Sunday, May 3, Trump wrote, “Hakeem Jeffries, a Low-IQ individual, said our Supreme Court is ‘illegitimate.’ After saying such a thing, isn’t he subject to Impeachment?”

“I got impeached for A PERFECT PHONE CALL. Where are you Republicans? Why not get it started? They’ll be doing this to me!” he added.

Jeffries called Supreme Court's decision 'unacceptable'

Jeffries fired back at Trump in a social media post by simply writing, “Jeffries Derangement Syndrome,” apparently referring to “Trump Derangement Syndrome”.

This came after last week, during a media conference, a Democratic Party member had slammed the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision on the Voting Rights Act. The April 29 verdict reportedly nullified Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, banning racial gerrymandering.

“Today’s decision by this illegitimate Supreme Court majority strikes a blow against the Voting Rights Act and is designed to undermine the ability of communities of color all across this country to elect their candidate of choice,” Jeffries said.

He also added that “we’re not here to step back, we’re here to fight back. Now, when this decision came out earlier today — it’s an unacceptable decision, but not an unexpected decision.”

Dan Abrams slammed Jeffries' 'hypocrisy' and agreed with Trump for targeting him

But Dan Abrams called him out on his show, ‘The Dan Abrams Show.’ “Shame on Hakeem Jeffries! Shame on him for referring to this court as illegitimate!” the TV host said.

Abrams further noted that disagreeing with the verdict or calling it bad was fine, but “it is even more dangerous to start calling this court illegitimate.”

“The minute we have partisans on both sides referring to this court as illegitimate, we are going to have no arbiter of anything in this country. You want to talk about a constitutional crisis. It’s gonna come because people will think of the court as illegitimate!” he added.

During the segment, Abrams also supported Trump and claimed that he’s “right to blast Hakeem Jeffries for saying that. Now, it’s total hypocrisy from him, considering what he says about judges in this country and suggesting they’re effectively illegitimate arms of the Democratic Party, etc.”

The media entrepreneur was referring to Trump’s earlier post, where he had blasted Jeffries for his “illegitimate” comment while stating that he “should not be allowed to talk that way about one of the Greatest Institutions anywhere in the World. He should withdraw the statement, IMMEDIATELY!”
