WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump described his call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “productive,” but reports suggest the conversation was marked by shouting, profanity, and the president allegedly branding Netanyahu “f*cking crazy” over Israel's new military attack.

The tense call between the two leaders took place as Iran threatened to withdraw from negotiations with the US after the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) attacked Hezbollah targets in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut on Monday, June 1.

Tehran blamed both the United States and Israel for the escalation, insisting that Israeli operations in Lebanon breached the ceasefire deal negotiated between Washington and Tehran on April 7.

“The ceasefire between Iran and the US is unequivocally a ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

“Its violation on one front is a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts. The US and Israel are responsible for the consequences of any violation.”

Trump reportedly blasts Netanyahu over Israel strikes

As Israel’s escalating attacks derailed the peace call, President Trump tore into the Israeli prime minister in an expletive-laden phone call, even calling Netanyahu “crazy” and accusing him of being ungrateful.

“What are you doing?” Trump reportedly yelled at Netanyahu, Axios reported, citing two US officials and a third source briefed on the call.

“You’re crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving you. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this,” a US official stated, referring to Trump’s support during Netanyahu's corruption trial.

Another source described Trump as sounding “pissed” and claimed the president “steamrolled” the Israeli prime minister on the call. “Bibi said, ‘OK, OK, just make sure everything is taken care of,'” the second official said.

Trump says Israeli troops will not enter Beirut

Following the phone call with Netanyahu, which he described as “productive,” Trump said that no Israeli troops will head to Beirut.

“I had a conversation with Bibi Netanyahu today, asking him not to go into a major raid of Beirut, Lebanon,” the president wrote on his Truth Social platform. “He turned his Troops around. Thank you Bibi!”

“I also had a conversation with Representatives of the Leaders of Hezbollah, and they agreed to stop shooting at Israel and its soldiers. Likewise, Israel agreed to stop shooting at them. Let’s see how long that lasts, Hopefully it will be for ETERNITY!” he wrote.

Later, Netanyahu wrote on X that he told Trump, “that if Hezbollah does not cease attacking our cities and citizens, Israel will attack targets in Beirut.”

Netanyahu added that the IDF “will continue to operate as planned” in southern Lebanon. Beirut, the capital, is on the eastern coast of Lebanon, in line with the center of the country.
