Trump celebrates Stephen Colbert’s exit as CBS ends ‘The Late Show’, says ‘I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next’

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump expressed joy after CBS announced it was canceling 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert'.
The president also hinted that Jimmy Kimmel might be next to go.
Donald Trump says ‘I absolutely love’ that Stephen Colbert got fired
The decision to end Colbert’s late-night run comes after nearly a decade on air. The move sparked widespread debate online, especially since it followed Colbert’s recent criticism of CBS’s parent company, Paramount Global.
President Trump celebrated CBS’s decision on Truth Social, writing, “I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings.”

Trump didn’t stop there. He took shots at other late-night hosts, saying, “I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!”
The president also said, “Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”

Stephen Colbert confirms CBS is ending 'The Late Show' without a replacement
Stephen Colbert, who has hosted 'The Late Show' since 2015, confirmed the news during Thursday’s episode.
“It’s not just the end of our show, but it’s the end of ‘The Late Show’ on CBS. I’m not being replaced,” he said. “This is all just going away.”

Earlier this week, Colbert slammed Paramount Global during his monologue for its $16 million settlement with Trump in a '60 Minutes' dispute.
“I believe this kind of complicated financial settlement with a sitting government official has a technical name in legal circles: It’s ‘big fat bribe,’” joked Colbert.
CBS insisted ratings weren’t a factor, stating, “It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount. Our admiration, affection and respect for the talents of Stephen Colbert and his incredible team made this agonizing decision even more difficult.”
Colbert’s show averaged 2.5 million viewers during the second quarter of this year, while Gutfeld averaged about 3.3 million per show during the same time frame, per TV Insider.
